Perhaps it is:

Which out-of-contract striker did Albion recruit after the 2020 Summer window closed in a desperate attempt to add another goalscoring option to one of the Premier League's least potent strikeforces?

Ding ding we have a winner.

Correct..

This is my feeling. I think we have (continued) to recruit poorly. Whether whose fault that is I don’t know.

But I don’t think Potter has the best squad to pick from. Especially in the striking department.

Because of this I find it hard to be too harsh on GP.

That’s about where I’m at. Many of us said this during the window and were shot down. But we lacked quality in the final third last season, and simply haven’t addressed it. Hoping for 3 worse sides again.

To be honest, I really don't think it helps that in recent times our club have really started to play the PR game to get our name out there as a 'brand' that plays attractive passing football in an amazing stadium with a bright young English manager. It's the Dan Ashworth top-10 project in a stunning blue kit that got a RECORD POINTS TALLY (scraped past the total from our first season in the prem) bla bla bla.

4 wins in 23. Frequently failing to win games despite absurdly good posession stats. It would be much easier to swallow if we weren't fed so much corporate bollocks hyping up the 'project'.

I’m pleased Stains stuck with Hasenhuttl, I genuinely rated him before and after their car crash.

I would’ve generally agreed with you, before that second half. That might sound irrational, but it was one bad luck story too far. NSC has spent the last 15 months blaming refs and lady luck. We’re always on the cusp of giving opponents hidings, but other than Newcastle, we seem to be a magnet for losses and draws grabbed from the jaws of glory.

I’m not suggesting a sacking is now the only option, but should we keep conceding goals and are flirting with the bottom three come January, a change of management wouldn’t shock me.

I’m not one of the posters who thrives on our demise. I found the last third of this evening’s game and the equaliser painful, I’d be celebrating with everyone else if we’d justly won this 6 pointer. But the reality was that Bilic and his men started to take us apart FFS.

On balance though, we’ve had perhaps 2 poor halves this season our of 12. The hard luck stories are out of playing well, not because we had our backs against the wall and suffered a wrong decision. Southampton conceded 9 goals at home, we’ve just had a bad half and come away with a point. I’m looking around at results and seeing all sorts of bizarre score lines, from Villa hammering Liverpool to West Ham scoring 3 against Spurs in 8mins etc. It’s strange times, there has to be a bit of balance.

When we start doing that this season against the top 7, gaining unlikely results, I’ll relax.

He has Maupay (over 20 goals in last Championship season which is what many say we should go for, plus 4 in 6 games this season), Connolly (full international), Welbeck (former England international) and Swiss Andy (***k knows) as his four conventional strikers. Then, as "attacking options" he has Trossard (Belgian international), Jahanbahksh (I'm not a fan but has been looking better and is a full international), MacAllister (full Argentina international) and potentially Columbian international Izquierdo back from injury.

Under the much maligned (very much by me too) Hyypia we lined up at the start of the season with a striking "force" of Fenelon and Chris O'Grady.

It is strange times, except we haven’t changed at all. We weren’t winning before the ‘strange times’ and we don’t win now! Only 4 wins in 2020 and 1 in 6 this season isn’t ‘hard luck’ it’s where we are as a team. It’s not just a bad half against WBA it’s much deeper than that!

The most curious thing..
We should be exactly where we are.

Just not good enough.

Teams that perpetually flirt with relegation places get relegated sooner rather than later.

Results don’t lie, they also don’t always reflect performances. We’ve changed in lots of ways, results haven’t unfortunately. I don’t agree it goes much deeper, I think we’re a bit of belief short in the final third of being a very good side.

My patience in Potters belief in his left side selections has run out. Yes, opinions differ greatly on Solly but what does Burn offer? I’m afraid I just don’t see it and never have. Burn adds no pace, guile or presence in the opposition half and rarely does Solly I’m afraid.
The decision to bring on Gross is another huge mystery. I’m sorry but he is very slow and defensively poor.
As someone else mentioned, to bring in Alzate and play him just behind Maupay when the option of Welbeck and Connolly were sitting on the bench if just ****ing odd.

The type of football played had improved. The squad has improved. The facilities have improved. The development of players has improved. The criteria for new players has improved.
We now have a basis for progression and it ain’t going to happen overnight, and it won’t be helped by changing the management after six league games.
Christ, people on here either have short memories or are a bunch of JCLs.

The team looks great when on the ascendency, but we seem unable to hold on to a lead or we take our foot off and invite too much pressure which inevitably turns into our undoing.
I think Potter has the right idea but too often it feels like shit or bust, no plan B when the wheels start to wobble. Once the opposing team tinkers their style to counteract ours, we're screwed and before long it will result in us being relegated.
It's so hard to say where we should realistically aim for. When we play well and stay on top we are easily top 10 material, but our inconsistencies mean we are more likely to hover in and around the relegation places and our lack of goals is frightening.
I sincerely hope Potter figures out how to get the best out of our players for the whole 90 mins.

Bottom three on todays showing - top ten on Newcastle showing.

Need to find a middle ground where we win a few and lose a few rather than draw a few lose a few.

Nicely put - fans are fickle beasts wherever you go but with Brighton I’m just not sure what they are expecting? We’re not gonna be top 10 overnight.
