Posting on NSC Threads

I reckon I have a good read of the Big Board every working day, but I rarely post, partly because I should be working, but also because someone else usually posts something similar to what my contribution would be.
Looking at the stats underneath the user names though, some people post a huuuge amount.
A certain avuncular contributor has posted more than 31,000 times since July 2003 – that’s just over 10 posts a day, every single day, for almost 8 years! Being a nosey bugger, this got me wondering:

a) When do you do most of your Big Board reading?

b) When you post, do you read the whole thread first, skim over it, or just jump straight in with a comment? I see so many contributors saying exactly the same thing as others did earlier.

And what the hell does ‘Apologies if fixtures’ mean? Actually, I think I know that; it means ‘Sorry if this has already been posted, but…’ so where does the ‘fixtures’ bit come in to it?

Yes, it’s a very sloooooooow day today!

A) When I should be skiing more important stuff
B) Depends on if the subject us interesting

C) Fixtures related to the ongoing question in the off season of when will the fixtures be announced. It's a bit groundhog-esque in it's repetitive nature and has been adopted as an NSC catchphrase.

Another old favourite is "Marvellous Scenes".

The 'fixtures' bit came about because at the end of every season loads of threads would get started all along the lines of "When do the fixtures come out?" This was before mods could merge threads so there was nothing for it but to wade through all the 'fixtures' threads looking for the ones on soup or where you could download a GOSBTS ringtone for a Nokia. Consequently when anyone started a thread about a topic that was already being discussed someone would say "When are the fixtures out?" - a bit like people say "Stop press - Titanic sunk" whenever someone repeats old news. It was a way of pointing out that a topic had already been started.

PS the count from 2003 is wrong. 2003 is when this particular version of the board started, and posting counts were carried over (if requested) from the previous version

Either when the house is near enough empty (like now) or late at night after a joint in the garden but I think the neighbours are starting to get suspicious of what's going on with the strong smell.

Never had a job where I could access NSC apart from a quite peek at lunchtimes. Oh, and always skim through the whole thread.
