Possible new NSC Game - Ow my head hurts!

That's not the name but the effect the rules have had! :lolol: It is a 'Dice and Chart' game that allows simulation of a complete Premiership season. Results are worked out by comparing cards of the 2 teams, throwing 2 dice for each team and checking a chart to get the result. Transfers and Injuries are included (somehow - I glanced through the instructions and got confused!)

I'll have a play and if it seems OK, I'll run a season after Spectrum Tennis finishes. If anyone is interested, please reply to this thread. This won't sign you up as I'll arrange that nearer the time but I just want to gauge interest. I don't think any input will be needed so you can just sit back and watch the results roll in. If I get real interest, it looks like the game can be tailored to include other divisions so promotion, relegation and cups could feature. Or you could just all decide that I am sad and ignore me!

So, would anyone be interested?

I haven't a clue what you're talking about, but what the hell

OK, I'll have a play and set up a game after the Spectrum Tennis finishes.

I'll try and explain it but don't quite understand it myself! :lolol: The game I have has a 'card' for each Premiership team (last season's BTW). It has ratings for attack, defence and money. By doing some maths with the ratings between the two teams, one of 6 or 7 goal cards is used. Rolling 2 dice gives the number of goals per half for each team based on the goal card used.

It sounds very complicated (and probably is) but the idea is that Arsenal are likely to beat Wolves so the goal card will reflect that. Arsenal will probably be able to win 6-0 whereas Wolves can only win 2-0 or 3-0 (I'm guessing here!). Transfers, injuries and suspensions all come into play, again with dice rolls.

It all sounds rather nerdy and probably is. But it could lend itself very nicely to a NSC game. It will be like Vic 20 football but more realistic. You will just have to sign up and will be randomly assigned a team. And I will get RSI from rolling dice and posting scores and tables. :lolol:

The only thing that ties this to the Premiership is that the cards provided are Premiership teams. There is nothing to stop me from creating my own set of cards for, say, Div 1 (Sorry, Championship) or International teams to have a World Cup using the same overall rules.

Sad man as I am, I'm quite excited by the possibilities this creates if it works well. It may be too difficult to run or you may all lose interest in my games as there is little or no input and it may not be much fun if you get Wolves or Leicester. But hopefully it will work well and will improve upon the success of Vic 20 football. Time will tell.

For the time being, no one else need sign up - I'll start a new thread when the time comes. I've still got the fate of the Spectrum Tennis trophy to decide!

I've just had a play and done a week's fixtures and got these results :-

Man City (2) 4 Arsenal (0) 2
Southampton (2) 4 Man Utd (0) 2
Aston Villa (0) 1 Leicester (0) 0
Bolton (0) 1 Charlton (0) 0
Chelsea (1) 3 Blackburn (0) 2
Middlesborough (0) 1 Leeds (0) 0
Newcastle (0) 1 Birmingham (1) 1
Spurs (1) 2 Fulham (3) 4
Wolves (2) 3 Portsmouth (0) 0
Everton (1) 3 Liverpool (0) 0

Scores in brackets being the half time scores, obviously. So although the game is weighted so the average game will echo last season, shocks do happen as shown in the first 2 games.

Injuries and suspensions also come into play and can last up to 10 weeks if you are evry unlucky. Transfers in and out can happen as well which will strengthen or weaken your team dependant on the dice roll.

It is very, very clever in the way it produces fairly realistic simulations using just 4 dice and complicated rules. It will be a pain to keep records but I'll give it a go.

When Spectrum Tennis is over, I'll start a thread and the first 20 players to sign up are in. A random draw will decide which team you get although I might be lenient if someone wants a lower team (CAFC Matt could have Charlton for example - provided he wants to play of course!)
