Gruda looks a player on last nights efforts, but for me I'm still frustrated at not going full strength for this one.

It's not as if we are playing two games a week every week (unlike Liverpool) so why not go strong? Surely our lads can play two games in a week on the very rare occasion this happens?

An opportunity missed in my view.

When Danny, Hinsh and Mitoma were brought on at 65 and 75 we looked like a team that could win comfortably- shame we ran out of minutes.

Liverpool had a changed side but the fact we were pretty much matched with our changed side gives me hope for Saturday at Anfield.

As much as most of us our still pissed off about Saturday, and we hate going out of any competition, at this point would things have been that much different under RDZ with the same set of players?

Maybe a point here and there, but ultimately we consistently dropped points at home to the ’lesser’ sides under RDZ and Potter, and whilst perhaps at times Hurzeler can be deemed tactically naive, what about Rome away?

It’s a learning curve, EPL managerial wise, he’s still in nappy pins, as always with the Albion, expect the unexpected, 3 points at Anfield? 🤷‍♂️

This.
Igor was ok and in fact looked more comfortable than JPvH.

That said I fear for both of them Saturday.
Think it was a much harder job for JPVH last night as the right sided centre back as he was having to try and do his job as well as Lampteys most of the evening

No positives from last night.
Far too many changes resulted in a loss of edge and a game littered with errors. We had a real chance last night and have missed out on a quarter final v Saints ( the weakest side left in )
Fine resting players for the weekend but its a full strength Liverpool away..||| This is our time now to have a real crack at the domestic cups. We have a lot of attacking options and we are in no danger of going down.

In the cold light of day their team including a lot of bench players were more clinical and looked more of a threat than our team including a lot of bench players.

We only looked sharp when Mitoma came on and kept skinning the full back.

I know they are raw and still getting used to this standard of football but apart from Rutter ( and Oreily) 200 million+ doesn’t get you much these days.

was expecting gruda and weiffer to be wonderkids at that price

That was just behind us, the bloke was being an idiot constantly standing, being abusive, think he went to light a cigarette at one point.

He looked out of place and the woman he was with, although embarrassed looked like she was coming off heroin or something.

Embarrassing behaviour by a supposed adult that led to him being carried out like that (and put in the lift face down !)

Had wondered if it was an overactive away fan or someone who’s never been to a game before

Gruda has played 90 mins off football for us after missing most of pre season injured. He looked very good last night in what was his first start for us. Clearly a player in there who is only going to get better the more game time he gets.

I will add another positive. I don't remember another game where Welbeck and Ferguson looks good as a front 2 but they did when Welbeck came on tonight. Combined well a few times. Could be exciting…
I thought Ferguson perked up massively again when it became clear he was going to get hooked. Looked like a boost to his confidence. Feels like he's getting there...

Really disappointed. WIth Palace beating Villa, Newcastle beating Chelsea and Spurs beating Citeh115, the competition had opened up and I fear
we've missed a huge opportunity against an understrength Liverpool side.
I'm on board with this. We have an infinitesimal chance of picking up anything meaningful at Anfield. Was a good opportunity to reach only our second ever quarterfinal in a competition that now looks very winnable. I'd take a proper tilt at a trophy over a 'hard-fought point at Anfield'.

Uhm.... too negative for this thread? Ok, I feel like we have a squad capable of winning a cup nowadays.. that's the positive.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
I thought there was a lot to like in general.

Lamptey bar the poor touch which nearly cost a goal could have been our best player, he caused liverpool a lot of problems going forward.

Lamptey was not that poor defensively, Liverpool just over loaded his side constantly.

I liked Gruda a lot, he has a lot of ability.

I thought he was outmuscled for that second goal…..but agree that he generally had a good game..offered more going forward than Veltman….and also noticed that Liverpool loaded his side….the warnings were there in the first half when it was three on one a couple of times

I genuinely feel sorry for you.

Presumably you look at the sunshine on the autumn leaves and curse the fact that every day is followed by night, and a bitter winter is coming.

Depressing.
