I'm SO annoyed, I go to albufeira with mates literally 1-2 weeks before brighton, organised it in march so obviously well before brighton go. I can give you advice about good bars etc when i'm back.

I went to Albufeira last year and the main strip is pretty manic, loud and naff to be honest but hey, i am there for the albion game thats all. The old town region is really nice and there are some great eateries on the outskirts all in all a decent enough place. There is a nice eat as much as you like chinese restaurant at the top left hand side of the main strip which is nice though but avoid the (and i use this term loosely) kebab take away as it gave me food poisoning, oh, and if anyone in the street offers you 'smoke' for sale(drugs) do not buy any, a few of these guys are being followed and have been part of a sting so beware

I am going and very much looking forward to it. Am staying in a small hotel in the old town and, at the age of 58, I will not be dancing frenetically in any discos etc, but fully intend to drink loads. Lots of rays to boot and two footy matches. S1 4 BHA has kindly offered me a lift to the game at Lagoa so that should be a good crack too. Wall to wall sunshine should be pretty much guaranteed.:)

Me and Mrs went last minute to Albufeira in 2006. Stayed in Montechoro Hotel (club 99 apartments) at the very top of the strip.

Was late in season (late september) so not too busy. I can imagine it being very Blackpool-esque in peak times but was bearable when we went.

The restaurants were okay. We too went to the chinese at the top of the strip. Very reasonable.

The beach was lovely at the very bottom of the strip. Avoid the scratchcard timeshare folk as normal.

Was okay for a one off but would go somewhere else for a less tat dominated holiday in future.

The old town was nice and there is a fantastic fish restaurant right on the beach in the ols town which is lovely (even romantic) at night and well worth a visit (although might be pricey).

I could do with a holiday too..... :tantrum:

It essential for us there are 6 of us, as as stated above, Alberfira is a bit like Magaluf on steroids, alright for this who like pissing it up, but it not for us,,were staying along the coast at Vilamoura.

Going to be class - I am hoping we will pack out one or two bars after the game all singing Albion songs etc. Sunderland will have a fair few over I imagine, always up for a piss up and a laugh those lot.
