Yeah but many of these players are multi millionaires so losing one month is peanuts,if the players cared that much they would play for free until the air is cleared. Its 320k a month just to pay kitson and lawrence's wages:D

Why is this dragging on so long,i hope they don't get a lifeline as i want them demoted 2 divisions.

The whole point is that most players don't care. The PFA cover their wages for a while anyway.

Lawrence, pay for it yourself FFS. Ohhh poor player on 20 grand a week can't find the money for a scan. No sympathy from me.

Is the right answer, only a twat, or somebody with no money, would wander around with a f***ed leg because someone else wouldn't pay for it to be scanned. I'd suggest he's not broke.

I know it's not right for a Brighton fan to say, and I do feel a bit uncomfortable admitting it, but I really don't care if Pompey go to the wall, they take the piss year in year out.

they can't pay because no-one trusts them to pay their bills and you can bet they owe BUPA or whoever a fortune. For certain, if I was them I wouldn't treat a Pompey player even if they came in with a roll of fifty pound notes unless it covered every halfpenny they owed plus the cost of the current treatment. Sorry but if you don't pay a supplier and that supplier then declines a service it isn't a case of can't afford is it and it doesn't deserve sympathy...........................

umm they havent been paid for a few months now i don't think? Still think its a sad state of affairs i know people on here dislike Pompey but you do have feel for them
For who, the players? Not really, I'd swap places.

I do empathise with the fans though. They may not have organised themselves as well as Brighton fans did, but it's still not their fault. But saying that, they'll probably be alright in the end. Again.

Lawrence isn't the one complaining. He might be happy just to let his leg heal itself for now while collecting his £20k each week. He might worry if it doesn't heal long term, but for now, he might be happy to take time off on full pay.

I did think about it for a ......................nano second and No i don't feel sorry for them.

They had a pathetic demonstration on after their game the other night there must have been all of 100 fans max that stayed behind after their home match, poor show i reckon.

Why do some Albion fans have a love in with Pompey?

Its a poor show because they really have nout to protest about, what they need is punishment now rather than it dragging on forever:)

Yes, but as a football debt, it will get preference, and I'm under the impression if clubs fail to pay wages there are other ways they will get their money (clubs paying into a fund or something, or the football league paying them from TV monies etc).

Even if I'm wrong, would you rather take time off, and maybe get paid in the future, or spend your own money to get a scan which gets you fit sooner and so back to working and not being paid until hopefully sometime in the future?

What if hypothetically it was something more serious maybe a broken bone so 6 months + out or a career threatening injuring and the club cant help him because of this situation they are in. Then what..

Read a thread on another forum reporting that the landlords of Pompey's training ground changed the locks overnight so they are now locked out plus a lot of their kit is inside. What a mess.

Not surprising that their creditors aren't giving them any benefit of the doubt this time. That parachute money is already disappearing fast.

Liam Lawrence turned down Celtic to join Portsmouth because, whilst Celtic were prepared to make him the highest-earner at the club, Pompey were offering more. This WHILST they were in administration. Says it all really.

Like I said in an earlier post, the article isn't lawrence showing concern for his injury, it is the manager. If lawrence is concerned his leg might be broken, or that the injury is more serious, my argument is moot. I was responding to people who were suggesting lawrence pay with a tone that suggested it was a criticism of lawrence for complaining. He wasn't, not in the cited article, which I have taken to mean he is currently happy to let nature take its course. He may change his mind if there is no improvement in a week, or a month.

For anyone worrying about Pompey players not being paid................. it is only January's pay that has been missed so far and they are guaranteed eventual payment no matter what happens as they are preferred creditors under FL rules. Ultimately they will be paid directly from parachute payments if all else fails.

If a scan was really medically required it would be offered on the NHS if he queued up with the rest of the world. The NHS wouldn't offer a scan just so that it could be assessed. The likes of me and you would be told to go home and rest.........end of problem.

Only if they come out of administration that way. They could come out of administration without obeying FL rules - or they could be liquidated.

not a cat in hell's chance of exiting admin without a CVA unless HMRC get to nominate the administrator and the Rangers case showed that is the remotest of possibilities.
And if that is a remote possibility then liquidation is the remotest of all remote possibilities :)

The Pompey manager is fretting that they may only have 14 fit players (12 really as one player will be given a knee injection and another has a bad back , ahh) for Saturday's game at Oakwell , forgetting to mention that they can fill the bench with academy hopefuls. How can a club ask the FL to sanction bringing in emergency loans if they get their wish of administration ? Appleton is also upset that the squad will now travel up to Yorkshire by coach as the club cannot afford to fly up the day before and incur the expense of an overnight stay in a hotel. At tomorrow's high court hearing there will be objections to Adronikou being appointed as the administrator , these include Portsmouth City Council , HMRC and several unsecured creditors from the last period of administration.
