Portsmouth Harbour was ok but Fratton what a dump.Fratton Park has always been a dump and their fans were so quiet 2day but not surprised Pompey are shite! That bald idiot at full time just as they missed their penalty offering the Brighton fans out what a prick.

Fans are all washed up has-beens a lot like the players and the ground. Going to be a nothing club for a number of years now.

He will change his mind in the reverse fixture-The Amex is built for Atmosphere.

But the noise does not travel to the away end unfortunately.
The noise does not travel to the away end, the the point Gillingham fans spent most of the game singing . "your supposed to be at home"
I believe it because of the open area in the corners each side of the south stand.

Can't believe how arrogant some of us have become so soon after offering away fans the delights of Gillingham and Withdean - talk about short memories!

Agreed. It's frankly embarrassing. I love old grounds like fratton park. Nothing beats pissing in a concrete gutter

Think some of you need to get real. You must have only been to the amex, you need to realise not every ground is brand spanking new. Go to a few away games and you'll soon realise this. Fratton Park may not be a nice ground, but for me it is a "proper" ground with great character and to be fair to the pompey fans, they made a decent amount of noise.

No.

Fratton Park is falling down, and their 'fans' are even worse.

I still prefer a rundown Fratton to those endless new bland identikit bowls like the Walkers, Ricoh, St Marys, Pride Park etc etc, shiny clean bogs and tellies in the concourse or not.

"Offering away fans"? You do realise we had to endure those shit facilities far more than they did. Pompey only ever played at Withdean twice. We had hundreds of games.

I've been to 56 league grounds and given the general improvements on standards I would say Portsmouths is the worst of it's size bracket. Norwich is equally old but they've made the most if what they have and the facilities have been modernised. Pompey don't appear to have bothered.

They have had all pre-season to get the ground ready and couldn't even get two taps to work in the Gents to wash your hands. Withdean was bad but it wasn't as disgraceful as FP. Very enjoyable game though. Football League highlights tonight were lacking as would like to see a few of the off the ball incidents this afternoon.

tiny food bar with the ladies and gents attached to it - whole area was about 5 metres wide - SHAMBLES! nice chicken balti pie though... well nice on a level way below our pies of course

Quite nice to wash your hands after a piss though.

Not sure the Goldstone was any worse than Fratton Park. When I went in the 1991-1992 season, the away end was an open terrace, as was the Fratton End as the roof had been demolished and the North Stand had another open terrace in front of a few seats. At least we had a roof over our home end for most of the time we were at the Goldstone.

Yeah i remember that & one albion fan started a chant "whats it like to have no roof"....with our years that followed the irony!!!
Pompey (apart from couple of spots) is a complete shithole & the ground is in much need of upgrading BUT I kinda like the old fashioned atmosphere of that ground today.
Pompey fans (mooshes) are anchor tattood bellends & that aint no lie

It was a shit ground, but its what the pompey fans deserve! no need to bring it up to modern standards, it wont match the rest of the city or any of their fans

Not true P_S, I am in the South West corner, and I can hear everything the North stand sing. If I can, they can as they are roughly ten foot to my right. Neither of the two visitors so far have out sung us at all. (3 if you include spudz)

Ashton Gate, Bristol City is just as bad and the view is crap from the away end. Asked a local the way back to Temple Meads after Barnet beat them and got told to f*** off. Nice.

Just far enough away from LDC

That's strange because I recall Ashton gate as a great ground to go to. I was going to use it to highlight a similar sized and aged ground as fraction park that is a pleasure to visit.

It's quite a nice city with some very good pubs by the Quays. The away end is quite shallow meaning a lot of the seats are at pitch level and a few pillars obstructing the view. It just felt very run-down. The fans were very unhappy at the time and I think their manager, Brian Tinnion was sacked the next day.

Me too
Fratton Park is a cracking ground
When on song Pompey fans make it a great atmosphere
Those home fans in the bottom seats must have a right shit view though (below sea level)
