Whitacker was his name and he gave the best performance by an opposition player that I have seen this season at Withdean. His goal and the realisation that we had lost the game allowed for the fans to show their appreciation at what was a splendid performance.

A hurtful defeat but credit where credit is due.

They played some of the best passing football out of defence I have seen at Withdean this season. I hope Wilkins was watching their play. Sad a team can play like that, yet be bottom and going down.

"Whitaker's the real driving force in the centre of the park" (Quote from todays match programme)

They got that f***ing right !

He totally bossed the game today and looked a different class.

It pains me to do this, but credit where credit's due......

Their third goal was the best here this season.

2-3 was not a true reflection of the game though.... was it ?

1-6 would have been about fair.

We had chances ourselves. WE just didn't hit the bar every time. If Cox had scored early in the second half it would've been a different game.

We were too timid from the first minute, it gave the message to Port Vale that they were dominant.

Hi All, Vale fan here.

Excellent (from my point of view) to hear such great comments about Whitaker who has become a bit of a boo boy at Vale Park this season.

Although, judging by his perfomance today we may struggle to hang on to him when his contract is up this summer.

Anyway, wish you luck in your promotion push and if it's any consolation we are a bit of a form team at the minute so I'm sure it's just a blip on your part

Yes, I did. It's been a long while since I have seen such a committed, determined and skillful performance from an opposition player. He was the best footballer on the park by a country mile and his movement off the ball was sublime. It's just a shame that he was wearing the wrong colour shirt!

Quite literally beggars belief they will more than likely be relegated this season after playing like that.

Certainly did - a committed skilful ATTACKING midfield performance of the kind we've been sorely lacking all season. Lady Vale up top says his contract's up in the summer. If yesterday was representative of his normal level of play we should grab him before somebody else does. Quality.

Me too. I'd had enough & was nearly off the stand as the shot whalloped into our net. They thoroughly deserved it - they played us off the pitch

I stood and applauded it. Best part of the game.
