Tom Hicks was saying last night that plans for Liverpool's new ground were now shelved "until the capital markets reopen". He also mentioned that action within the club on the move had been going on for 9 years.

Tottenham have been talking about a new stadium for years and they've identified a site, but nothing much is going to happen in the next few years even though they've just posted record half-yearly profits.

What these 3 stories tell us is the credit crunch is biting at the top of football, so I am genuinely concerned with the ability to deliver Falmer.

The club have got very little hope of getting a break-even 12,000 atttendance if they're playing League 2 football, and what lender would want to lend £X million to a club in the bottom tier with a recent history of making losses and a board of directors who've put in as much as they dare already?

I don't see how the Anfield development is particularly relevant to the Falmer stadium.
Hicks and Gillet borrowed £300M+ to buy Liverpool, although not a penny was their own money; it was all borrowed and is charged against the club who are having to repay the loan(s). The financial deal also needs to be "re-structured" this summer.
Any wonder they're having trouble finding someone to stump up a few hundred million more?

Haven't the yids been buying up property around white heart lane for the last few years?
I'm pretty sure they're going to redevelop rather than move to a new stadium

They are planning to sort of re-develop White Hart Lane, in that they are planning to build a copy of the Emirates that slightly overlaps the footprint of the existing ground.
