Football thugs found guilty following Chelsea v Spurs clash
( 6 ) Related Tags:Londonpoliceviolencebaseballfootball. Two thugs who took part in a savage mass brawl following a football match have been found guilty of violent disorder.

Up to 100 men armed with knives, broken bottles, baseball bats, pool cues and an ice hockey stick fought a pitched battle outside a pub in the affluent Parsons Green area of south-west London, after the three-all draw at nearby Stamford Bridge.

More than 30 were arrested, and six taken to hospital with stab wounds and head injuries.

Stephen Bowden, of Tonfield Road, Sutton, Surrey and Steven Davidson, of Alghers Mead, Loughton, Essex, were both convicted of violent disorder at Blackfriars Crown Court for their part in the near-riot.

Bowden, 46, a cab driver, was among a group of Chelsea supporters who fought with Tottenham fans, including unemployed Davidson, outside the White Horse pub on March 11 last year.

Earlier that day Davidson, 27, was spotted by police among a group of "high risk" Tottenham supporters who appeared to be trying to organise a fight using mobile phones.

At around 8.15pm police were called to the White Horse to find a group of Tottenham fans - who had armed themselves with bottles - fighting with Chelsea supporters wielding knives, baseball bats and a hockey stick.

No CCTV cameras captured the fight, but detectives were able to piece together what happened from witness reports and mobile phone records.

Det Sgt Paul Mitchell, of the Metropolitan Police, said: 'The level of violence used on the night was staggering.

'Several of the combatants were taken to hospital with stab wounds and head injuries and we were lucky not to be dealing with a murder inquiry.

'The incident occurred outside a popular west London public house on a Sunday evening.

'Innocent members of the public were left in a state of shock and it was extremely fortunate that none of them were injured.'

I went to the chelsea v cardiff game there were lots of lads looking for trouble but the police were there in large numbers. There was a large fight in Kings Road 10 mins after the game but was split up by the police in a matter of seconds. But hundreds were involved so I guess the Met have looked at the cctv and want to make arrests
