Pointless football rules....

...that add no value to the game, or put another way - you gain no advantage by breaking it.

Here's a few to start with:

1) kicking the ball forwards when taking a kick off (centre kick)

2) making sure the ball starts behind your head when taking a throw in

3) ball must rotate it's full circumference following a dead ball kick before another player can play it.

Why are offside's given as indirect free kicks?

good one - as if someone would take a shot from the resulting free kick in their own half!!

I'll give you one - if an own goal is scored from a direct (or is it indirect) free kick then it's not a goal it's a corner to the opposition.

If an attacking throw in or indirect free kick goes straight into the opponent's net it is a goal kick.

If a throw in or indirect free kick goes straight in the kicker's/thrower's own goal it is a corner.

So, what if a drop ball hits a bump on the pitch and goes straight out of play without touching anyone? your decision?
