The guy just seemed like a piss-taker from day one really. He somehow managed to give off the vibe (to me at least) that he didn’t want to do any work, but expected to be treated with almost godlike levels of respect and care.

I personally feel he’s acted his way through a football career, I genuinely never saw him have a good game. One of those players who others tell you is lauded, but when you watch them you can’t work out why.

Watching Baleba in his cameo yesterday, I wasn’t convinced that he was the finished article in terms of positioning or effectiveness, but he was trying, running, putting a shift in. I’d take Baleba every day of the week over Pogba of any era.

Cruised for years based on a couple of excellent performances in international tournaments, such as scoring and running the game in the 2018 World Cup Final.

This is, of course, SIX years ago and he’s done absolutely bugger all since. A guy who seems to lost his passion for the game, and as you say is long since more interested in the fame than the game.

MacAllister also ran a World Cup final, and I know which one I’d rather have in my team. Groß has never played in a World Cup, but I’m picking him every time over Pogba.

Pogba WAS good, and tried hard in his early-mid career, but quickly tailed off when back at Man Utd and since.

For reference, he's won 57 MOTMs in 414 career appearances. That's not a fluke.

That genuinely amazes me. I only ever really saw him in a Manchester United shirt, and he just never looked bothered.

I know some players disguise their skill with an air of nonchalance (e.g. Berbatov) but either he was the greatest at it there’s ever been, or he genuinely wasn’t fussed about whether he was playing or not. I reckon most of those MOMs must have come in the earlier part of his career.

Edit: The MotM awards were mainly while he was in a Man Utd jersey. What were other people seeing that I’m not?

Regardless of his qualities as a footballer, 4 years is an incredibly harsh punishment

I'm not buying the narrative that he's a cross between Frank Worthington and Winston Bogard.

Doesn't sound quite the full ticket to me:

In August 2022, a French investigation was opened following allegations that Paul Pogba was the victim of an extortion plot involving his brother Mathias, childhood friends and witchcraft doctors, also called Marabout.[238] On August 28th 2022, after his brother Mathias published an online video threatening him, Paul revealed to the French police that he had been physically "trapped by childhood friends" and "two gunmen" asking him for €13 million for past services, including the consultation of witchcraft doctors.[239] He explained that he was also harassed in his training camp in Juventus and that he thought about quitting football. It was revealed that large sums of money were demanded from Pogba to avoid the dissemination of videos allegedly compromising him. His brother Mathias Pogba was accused of being involved. Two investigations were opened on suspicion of extortion attempts, one in France, the other in Italy.[240][241]

He has been found guilty of cheating. If you can’t do the time don’t do the crime.
That's fine, but how is "the time" decided? People cheat all the time, they don't get banned for 4 years. A quick google search seems to suggest that Pogba's punishment is significantly longer than any previous high profile doping ban in football. Is his crime worse somehow or is he being made an example of?

Was he overrated? I only really saw the lazy do nothing but sulk and pick up a large wage Pogba.
