Quite liked the mock turtle. 9 might be a squeeze though

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!

It's quite small and cosy inside and may be a little cold for the garden even though there is a small tent which I don't know if it has heaters. I would check if they could cater for nine people. I have their full-English there once a month, and it is pretty good.

I know this might be no good to you - because it's not in Brighton - but please please please at some point in your life go to the tea room in Steyning. The biggest, warmest, deliciousest scones in the whole world.

If you want to impress maybe go to The Ivy, a friend recently went and said it was very good for afternoon tea and she has high standards. Took my parents to The Grand for a wedding anniversary a few years ago and that was very good.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of going there.
