Pork pie land.
What exactly did you expect from this thread?

Obviously too much from some on here!

On a serious note, severnside's post is interesting, and I was expecting posts about things they had maybe heard themselves (i.e.not from the media) but did not want to start a new thread and get a load of sh1t from the usual know it alls.

To be fair, all of the people mentioned in my post (Kevin Phillips, Danny Cipriani, Phil McHunt and Joe Cole) have all been mentioned on NSC or the Argus website.

the problem is. it is too early. players are not technically out of contract and are on their holidays. If you look at the number of signings made by clubs at the moment it is minimal. Give it a few weeks and those who may well have heard things may have things to say of. But for now, everyone is on hoilday enjoying the sunshine

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Jake Robinson. He scored a lot of goals this season in Div 3, has just been released and I think could do it at a much higher level. I've heard he's the "Division Two Lua Lua" so would fit in well. Anyone else know anything about him?

Not an ounce of truth in either of these (to my knowledge) and sorry put put yet more irons in the rumour fire, but Ingimarsson released by Reading (as mentioned above) and Hahnemann released by Wolves today. Both would be great signings for us IMO.

I was talking to my mate yesterday, a Watford season ticket holder, and he said that Buckley is a cracking player. Although he said you get 10 fantastic games out of him in a season, 10 where he is good, and 30 where you forget he is even there.

Common with younger players.

Marlon Harewood released by Blackpool. Scored 4 in 10 on loan at Barnsley. Only 31. Offered a deal by Notts County, but has interest from Championship clubs. Could do worse in my opinion.

You would have to say that as a big lump up front for Plan B he would probably be ideal as he is useful with his head and his feet and presumably affordable as, although no longer skint, Notts County are not exactly cash-rich. If they can afford to look at him presumably so can we. That aside the fact that there has been no speculation and therefore no logical reason to think that we are interested in him, actually makes him (on past form from Gus & Co) a possibility :)

If we're gonna be pedantic I think you'll find it's CLOSE season

I think you'll find the term is closed season, it derives from the hunting term for the period in which hunting is banned in order to protect animals/ fish during their breeding season.

Close season, like "early doors" is a term used& made popular by lazy sports reporters and nobhead analysts (Ron Atkinson)

as used by this website.

Just read that Harewood is talking to Notts County? I reckon he might be useful not the most skilful but as a battering ram and getting in yer face sort of player he could deliver perhaps .. he certainly likes running at the opposition and has a pretty good shot on him .. dunno about the rest

Because an unskilful battering ram is just the sort of player that would fit into Gus' vision for Brighton!!!!
