I didn't manage to get to the game but did listen to it on the radio. It sounds distinctly like the players thought they had done the job on Saturday and just brought nothing to the party tonight. Not a managerial issue - but one of complacency.

I'd love to hear what some of the fans who were at the game thought.

Ive been saying all season that the players have been playing very poorly this season and our mess is not all down to the non-playing staff!!

To be fair, Livermore isn't a left back. Walsall's strength coincided with our weakness tonight, that's football. It sounded like a poor performance, and Slade won't let them get away with it. He'll be having a go at them as we speak, and telling them what needs to change. And he'll make that change, and we'll be better on saturday. We played a natural left back in the second half, and Elphick instead of El-Abd, and that's got us a clean sheet. We finished with the best back 4 we have at this club at the moment, well, fitness wise. It's not all doom and gloom.

The old adage ' if it ain't broke don't change it ' must now be ringing in Dick Knights ears now ...we are now heading towards div2 (old div4 ) with no fight from the players

The neutral co-commentator tonight was scathing about the Brighton players lack of fight. Been commonplace this season and hardly what you need in a relegation battle and with Murray being a sick note there really is nothing about any part of the team that suggests we can win games and compete consistently. League 2 here we come barring some unfortunate clubs going into administration.

We have to face facts that although it looks a good squad on paper, we don't have enough ' character ' in the side. Tonight was an appalling result, considering they got hammered at home on Saturday. We should have been capable of taking the game to them and further denting their confidence.
Forget the win which was gifted to us by Yeovil..we have lost 4 out of the last 5, conceding 12 goals and only Southend, out of those four, have even been in the top half !!!
I can't believe there was any complacency tonight...ffs...we are 3rd from bottom !!!
The fat lady has already cleared her throat.

That's a massive blow for us tonight, our run in is difficult enough, but Slade will truly be a god if he can turn this around now.

The morale of the side, and the football club as a whole, was destroyed by Micky Adams' consistently baffling and utterly awful managerial decisions (Thornton benched, Virgo right wing, Hawkins on the pitch... amongst many many others) throughout the first 4-5 months of the season. Towards the end of his tenure he started to make more logical decisions but by then it was too late. The shit we are in now is not because of the players, or the current manager, or Dean White. It is the fault of Micky Adams. 100%.

What can you say, 11 players woefully out of form, one shot (that I can remember) on goal in front of 3000 people in a shitty (albeit better than ours) stadium. The lack of effort and not 'giving a shit' was not acceptable. Mr Slade has got his work cut out.

That what some us of said when we heard Adams has been re-appointed.
The thing is who was it that wanted Adams so bad,our leader is to blame for the mess we are in i am just hoping that Mr Slade can do the almost impossible and get this bunch playing as a team consistently to the end of the season and picking up the points we need or ultimately the man who helped save our club could have just destroyed it by his decision in May to change management.

Could we really survive on smaller crowds next season if we were in Div4, i hope the board and fans have can find even more cash to keep us away from administration.

Come on Slade in for a Penny.
