3:30pm: Albion chairman Dick Knight tells seagulls.co.uk that the club had agreed terms with Watford to take midfielder John Eustace on loan until the end of the season. However, the former Hornets captain does not want to drop out of the Championship.

McNulty turned us down until Uncle Dick blew in his ear. presumably if Eustace doesn't go anywhere we can always take him on loan afterwards once he's been offered a free holiday in Spain.

One worry, I seem to remember a cartoon character in the papers when I was a kid called Useless Eustace - I've always associated those two words since then.

But this may not be him of course

Not really THAT much of a blow. Jarrett and Livermore seems a good enough parternship for the rest of the season with the potential for Fraser, El-Abd and Birchall to provide cover in the centre if needed.

Did DK make McNulty an offer he couldn't refuse, something like a horse head in the bed? (Godfather)

Suspect we will go back for Eustace later, if not when the loan window re-opens, then during the summer after we decide on keeping Carole,Jarrett and Birchall.
As previously said, Livermore (or el abd who is the current incumbent) can fulfill the role envisaged for Eustace
