Reid just left his man to get a free head! No blame to Kuipers!

Repugnant Toad said:Plenty of blame - needn't have been an issue if the keeper had done his job.

Happy Seagull said:So no blame for the defender not doing his job? But blame for the keeper who didn't have a chance with the cross?
Repugnant Toad said:Reid was at fault personally, but he could have been saved the (difficult) task of challenging the defender if Kuipers had left his line for once and got at least a punch on the ball.
Repugnant Toad said:If he hadn't been indecisive and unconfident, he would have made it, I'm sure. He has never been good on judging crosses, his major weakness.
Reid was at fault though, agreed - he didn't get off the floor at all.

Good call,JDJim D said:I don't think you can blame either Reid or Kuipers for their goal. The Gills player that scored came in on a run from outside the box. Perhaps he should have been tracked back by a midfielder? I don't think Reid had a chance with the header - perhaps he could have obstructed him and risked a penalty (and a red card), but the other guy had too much momentum. It was very much like Virgo's against Swindon.
Kuipers was never going to reach the ball but came out because the defence obviously weren't going to get there - it was one for the defenders, but was just too good.
