Kuipers 7 (Did well on the whole, saved us from worse)

Mayo 5 (Poor, found wanting for goals)
Butters 5 (Hesitant, exposed)
Cullip 5 (Below usual standard, looked very average)
Hinshelwood 4 (Never attacked with conviction, lacked confidence)

Harding 4 (Peripheral, never got involved until too late)
Nicolas 8 (Excellent, a driving force, let down by others)
Reid 5 (Game passed him by, too little done - goal came too late)

Piercy 6 (Not fit, but showed some good touches)
Knight 8* (Outstanding, almost back to his best, but desperatly needs help)
Currie 6 (Good on the ball, but not played in his best position)

Hammond 6 (Did a good enough job, but game was already lost)

Kuipers 7 - no protection from defence

Hinshelwood 6
Cullip 3 - turhed too easily for 1st goal, lost his man for the 3rd and generally murdered by Ashton. Limitations at this level shown.
Butters 5
Mayo 4

Reid 6.5 - tidy and can pass, though faded in the second.
Nicholas 8 - a class above the rest
Harding 4 - lightweight and unsure where to be

Piercy 5 - looked unfit, to be fair first start for long time
Knight 6 - receives terrible service
Currie 7 - class act

Kuipers 7 Some good saves, well done

Mayo 5 Passing poor
Butters 6 OK
Cullip 6 OK
Hinshelwood 6 Not bad but missed a few chances to get crosses in

Harding 6 Competent defensively but not creative
Nicolas 7 Superb first half but lost his man for the crucial second goal
Reid 6 Nice work and fine goal

Piercy 6 Some nice touches but no real goal threat
Knight 7 Worked hard
Currie 8 MOTM Excellent

Hammond 6 Solid

Kuipers 7 - Stopped us getting a drubbing

Mayo 3 - Was out of position for the first two goals.
Butters 5
Cullip 5
Hinshelwood 5 - Needs to get some crossing practice in this week. Very hesitant.

Harding 5 - Not his position.
Nicolas 8 - Played really well though overun at times.
Reid 6

Piercy 4 - Looked rusty, some good touches when he was able to control it.
Knight 7 - Battled well, shame about the touch when through on goal.
Currie 7 - Played well and deserved a goal.

Hammond 6 - Thought he played well once he came on.

Kuipers 6 had no chance with any of the goals
Hinshlewood 5 Nothing match
Cullip 3 Proved yet once again he is not good enogh for this division.
Butters 5 Did what he had to
Mayo 4 Similar to Cullip but not as bad./
Reid 6 Got forward well on the right.
Nicholas 8 Showed he had the appetite for this game needed more like him.
Harding 5 Did OK but not a midfielder
Piercey 4 Have never thought him good enough
Knight 7 Gave his all but must be frustrated at the lack of support and good balls he receives.
Currie 7 Played well in first 45 mins had some good shots but again needs more support to play with him.

Subs:

Hammond 5 Didnt improve the team much when he came on.

Overall summing up. McGhee came unstuck with his team sele ction but is working with two hands and two feet tied together.

One answer to solve the problem beg, borrow or steal the money for a striker and then play Virgo in the centre of defence instead of Cullip who is too slow misses too many headers and is dragged out of position too often by the strikers in this division and proved why nobody has come in for him when he has been on the transfer list.

wherever the money is
Kuipers 7 for shot stopping and 1 for commanding his area. if he had done so they would have only scored 1 goal

Mayo 4
Butters 4
Cullip 5
Hinshelwood 5

Harding 4
Nicolas 8
Reid 6 tried his hardest

Piercy 5 due to fitness but some of his touches were superb and would get an 8 if he was fit
Knight 8 for effort. I thought he ran his socks off and did not give up. It will come Leon and when it does you will score a hatfull
Currie 10 Did 1 bad pass from what I remember, worked hard and deserved a couple of goals

Hammond 6 played well when he came on.

Kuipers 7

Hinshelwood 6 - fairly solid but like our other right backs (apart from Reid) seems unsure what to do when going forward.
Cullip 3 - at fault for 2 goals and exposed by the better strikers at this level. How many headers did he miss against Ashton??
Butters 5 - lack of pace sometimes exposed.
Mayo 4 - seemed out of touch.

Reid 6.5 - faded in the second but a tidy player who can play football.
Nicholas 8 - a class above everyone else, reads the game brilliantly. Could be playing for a much better side.
Harding 4 - looked lost and anonymous.

Piercy 4 - 1st start for a long time but always looks unfit and gets knock off the ball easily. To be fair maybe deserves a couple more chances to get his match fitness back.
Knight 6.5 - worked hard but receives virtually no service and I feel sorry for the guy as he has ability.
Currie 7.5 - very good, this is his level. Though his corners were disappointing today - too many hung up to the near post allowing the giant Crewe keeper to claim.

are you all giving Knight good marks in the hope that he reads this thread and it boosts his confidence?

He did OK today, nothing exceptional, but OK. Yes he worked hard (in short bursts), ran about a bit and flicked on a few headers, but when it comes down to doing what he's there for:
1) he fluffed a one on one with the keeper (then faked an injury)
2) can't remember him troubling the keeper otherwise
3) spent much of his time out wide
4) was well marshalled by average defenders

Maybe he was doing the job McGhee told him to do, but whenever a cross came in Knight was standing next to the crosser rather than being in the danger zone.

He was the best player on the pitch - taking people on, chasing back, hitting shots when he could - he worked his socks off without any support and deserved a goal. What do you expect of him? Even when he plays well, people aren't happy ...

were we watching the same match? maybe I had a different view.

"outstanding", and "best player on the pitch" - have you confused Ashton (or most Crewe players) with Knight?

I think you are being very harsh - especially with the faking injury bit. I had an excellent view and whilst it was a fair challenge because he got the ball first it was a nasty knock at an awkward angle to knights leg. I'm surprised he was able to carry on as easily as he was.
People on here have been moaning because of his work rate and now he is working his arse off some people still aren't happy.
