Average sort of game today. We should have had three points, but we could have lost it in the last ten minutes.

Kuipers 8. One great save in the first half. Could do nothing about the goal.

Whing 6. Has played better, but an OK game.

Elphick 7. Good goal. Played OK.

El-Abd 8. Excellent game. No moments of madness.

Richards 8. Class. Likes to pass the ball instead of hoofing it. Good to have him back.

Martot 8. Best game for the Albion. Particularly impressive first half. I was amazed to find myself frequently applauding his passes and interceptions. Is there more to him than I thought?

Reid 7. OK game. One or two sublime passes, but plays the ball back too often.

Thomson 7. Quietish game. One or two excellent passes. Good start.

Cox 6. OKish, but could have done more.

Revell 7. Good game without quite doing enough.

Forster 7. Should have had a couple.

Subs: Not long enough.

Wilkins 4. For persisting with the diamond and not bringing on subs sooner.

Ref 2.

Martot was MOM today for me.

Even Withdean Wanderer (a noted Martot-hater) said at half-time that he felt Martot had been our best player up to that point, which is really saying something.

Blimey Goldstone, with those scores you would think we'd have won about 3 - 0

Kuipers - 7 - generally solid
Whing - 7 - didn't do much wrong
Elphick - 8 - Strong, calm and a great header
El-Abd - again, can't really be faulted there
Richards - 7 - A bit erratic, but generally a sound performance
Martot - 7 - Faded badly towards the end, but definitely a much improved performance, with good tackling and passing. However, didn't look at all like a winger
Reid - 6 - not quite sure how he got man of the match. Quiet
Thomson - 6 - used the ball well, but didn't really get involved. Vocal.
Cox - 6 - poor again, but finally sent in a good corner for the goal
Forster - 7 - looked lively, missed a golden one-on-one though
Revell - 5 - lots of running, no end product at all

Elder - 6
Hart - 10 - Comes on, gives away throw in, tells Wilkins to f*** off, gives away another throw in, gets sent off, probably ends Albion career. Legend.

Wilkins - 2 - Not willing to make subs - showed far too much faith in the pathetic formation that produced a dire game of football.

kuipers 6 do think some people live in a deam world when it comes to the fdm,i for 1 would be delighted to see flinders back

whing 6.5 steady as usual and even got in the box on the end of a cross which must be a 1st

richards 7 a left back that can defend again, great to see him back

elphick 6.5 great header but nearly let jevons in early in the 2nd half

el abd 7.5 good game, thought he had scored with the shot that glennon somehow saved

martot 8 worked his socks of and carried on his good work from oldham

thompson 8 rearly impressed me,funny ho the same people that dont rate hammond seemed to be rating thompson down.always made him self avaliable and i can only remeber him giving the ball away a ouple of times.may not have georges skill but will bring more to the team.great start MOM

reid 7 some good touches, like when he put forster through but no way mom they are having a laugh

cox 6.5 nice touches at times but drifted out of game to much

forster 6 worked hard,we need to attack the ball better when he goes at the full backs

revell 6 typical alex performance, hard working but needs to improve the end product

how you can give anyone more than 6 is incredible!

Kuipers - 7 - I thought he had a good game. Not much any keeper can do about a free kick like that.

Whing- 6 - Steady.
Elphick - 7 - Defended OK. Good finish.
El-Abd - 7 - Defensively the pick of the defenders.
Richards - 6 - Good 1st half, OK 2nd half.

Martot - 7 - Probably MOM.
Reid - 6 - Better than Mansfield but not MOM
Thompson - 6 - A reasonable debut and I'm sure there's better to come.
Cox - 5 - Not at his best today.

Forster - 6 - Good running and it looked like a penalty to me.
Revell - 5 - Should have given way to Elder before the goal.

Kuipers 7 - Didnt make a mistake all game, was beaten by a very good set piece

Whing 6 - Good with defensive duties, gave away needless amount of possession by playing the long ball

Elphick 7 - Solid at the back, Nice header for the goal.

El-Abd 8 - Played very well today I thought, looked good at the heart of the defence

Richards 6 - Looked good for a fashion, dunno what happened after half time?

Martot 8 - Played really well, deserved MOM

Reid 7 - Played well, but not good enough for MOM at all.

Thomson 6 - Fairly quiet, if not a solid start to his albion career.

Cox 5 - Poor with set pieces, just generally quite poor today.

Revell 6 - Not that dominant in the air for his height, didnt create much today

Forster 7 - He was our biggest threat, his ball control was lacking today

it all depends on how you view the rating dave but i will say if you look in the papers over theweekend unless someone has been well beaten you dont very often get a team where everyone is rated 4's ,5's and 6's

Basil Fawlty

Don't Mention The War
Kuipers 7- Solid enough, nothing he could of done about the goal.

Richards 6- Started well, then got poorer throughout the game.

El-Abd 7- Solid enough again, heading was better. Passing was ok.

Elphick 7- Didn't do much wrong, apart from losing Jevons in the second half. Good header from the corner.

Whing 6- Distribution still dire, didn't have a great game.

Martot 7- Worked hard, getting better and better in every game he plays.

Reid 6- Still looks very sluggish, got good tackles in. But definitely not 100% match fit.

Thomson 7- Passing was great, tackling was good. Always wanted the ball, solid enough debut. Could be captain, if Hammond does decide to move on.

Cox 6- Got closed down alot, did a few good crosses from dead ball situations. Good corner for Elphick goal.

Forster 7- Decent enough, went through one on one but his first touch let him down. Hopefully if Thomson get forward more, then maybe Forster will have decent service.

Revell 7- Ran his socks off, won most headers in the air. But didn't really do enough infront of goal.

Subs:

Hart 5- Got sent off, didn't do anything. Is this the end of OGH?!

Elder 5- Far to late on bringing him on, god knows what happened!

Kuipers 8. One great save in the first half. Could do nothing about the goal.

I am not sure how Michel merits an 8. His great save was from a fluffed cross and his kicking was atrocious. We needed plenty of possession and he kept putting it to the wrong man.

Kuipers 5.5
Whing 6
Elphick 6
El-Abd 6
Richards 6
Martot 7.5 MOM
Reid 6
Thomson 7
Cox 5
Revell 4
Forster 6

Revell was disappointing. Maybe a decent case to start Elder for a game or three, unless we sign someone.

I agree partially on the distribution front. Mr Omisade, I was extremely pleased to see him recycle the ball quickly, but on the kicking front, more often than not, our strikers had to move well out of position to attempt to win the ball from the punts. There were plenty of times that Revell was calling for the ball to knock it on to Forster (although I doubt he would have been able to today!), but it went waywards towards other players or into no-mans land.

Please don't think I am a FDM hater, I love the guy, but I think we are wasting potential possession, regularly, with his wayward kicking.

I am, more than likely, being too harsh. Any ball that did eventually get there was wasted, usually by Revell. I would start with Elder for the next game. He seems to be more of a handful. Revell did some good things today, but wasted far too much possession and can be a little too precious.
