Can’t see a thread anywhere so here goes.

6 - average.

Thought Everton played well, but we weren’t at our normal levels.

Sanchez - 7
Webster - 6
Duffy - 6
Dunk - 6
Gross - 5 - no-one for him to pass to up front.
Bissouma- 8
Lallana - 7 - kept things ticking over
Moder - 6
MacAllister - 5
Trossard - 6 - better second half
Maupay - 5 - played on his heels. Clearly protecting his shoulder. Little movement.

Welbeck - 5 - looked better with him on
Veltman - 4 - felt sorry for him.
Richards - n/a - promising cameo

Jon Moss - 4 - little protection for Bissouma, thought Richardson could have gone, persistent dissent, off the ball elbows, unsportsmanlike conduct. The failure to play advantage was a shocker.

Potter - transfer window still open, but is he being let down by our lack of activity?

Pretty much as I would have marked it though a bit harsh on Maupay who I thought played pretty well with no support or service.

The match was a bit of a reality check after the first two games. Everton were really good but we looked totally out of our depth which has not been the case for quite some time. Really need our key players back ASAP……

Not having seen the game, the ratings don't look too bad considering the terrible "holistic impression" I have of the game reading NSC.

I was expecting a few 2s and 3s.

Havent seen so little creation for a long time. Didnt help by having Moder and Gross out wide, and Mac and Lalana so poor. Veltman did ok job RWB last season why didnt he start there. Veltman and Dunk made less big errors than any players last season so maybe unlucky they both cost goals

Sanchez 5 Chance for goal but good in air
Webster 6 Tried to go forward in 2nd half
Duffy 4 Just a stopper gave forwards far to much room. Not much use when chasing a game
Dunk 4 Apart from few good tackles very poor
Moder 3 Contributed nothing Played well at Cardiff in central position . Not a wide player
Gross 3 Contributed nothing Not a wide player.
Bissouma 6 Our only hope of something constuctive but Lalana and Mac never made themselves available ahead of him and play stopped once ball went wide.
Lalana 3 As the experienced pro should have tried to get midfielders going. Very little effort to position himself in atttacking position.
McCallister 3 Here he was in favoured position and contributed nothing
Trossard 6 As always the pllayer that can do something different was our only hope. Better left of midfield supporting rather than central striker
Maupay 6 Easy to say did little but none of midfielders got near him to support. Many have said we play too many passes round box but today were hardly any
Veltman 4 Marked down because of penalty.

This is more like it for me.

Agree with you scores but Veltman has not been training due to covid and was clearly not match fit today. I really don’t think Potter wanted to play him but he had to do something as your 3’s for Moder and Groß are testament to.

This was one of the worst performances in the Potter era, largely because of the fact he had no options on the flank and the FSW clearly picked his side and tactics as Everton were brilliantly well drilled. I noticed that Groß was never really doubled up on, the FSW knows he would have had to allocate at least two players to look after Lamptey, that’s when gaps in the centre open up.

We simply have to get two more wing-backs by Tuesday and hopefully a player who could be an aerial threat in the box.

Agree mostly with this.

About a minute before they scored their first I commented to my mate that we needed halftime, just to set up slightly differently.

We were ponderous all game with all the playmakers running in treacle. Gross in particular was very poor. Potter also didn't change the mindset as we continued to play exactly the same way, at 2-0 down we appeared to be playing down the clock.

Everton played their game plan to perfection.

Fiveways
Sanchez 7 -- some dodgy distribution, but some cracking saves in there
Webster 7.5 MotM -- perhaps could have done better with the goal (although he had zero support), but easily our best passer
Duffy 5 -- awful distribution, beyond sideways passes to his fellow CBs, every time he touches the ball it goes straight back to the opposition
Dunk 5.5 -- had a bit of a shocker
Gross 5 -- also had a bit of a shocker
Moder 5.5 -- not up to much today
Bissouma 7.5 -- good again, not given much protection by the one that can't keep up with play against the repulsive one
Lallana 5.5 -- not up to much today
Mac Allister 5 -- really poor in possession today
Trossard 7 -- found pockets, drove forwards, tried to make things happen (which it didn't)
Maupay 7 -- some great touches and movement, but not much managed to happen

Subs:
Veltman 5 -- silly challenge, poor on the ball
Welbeck 6 -- injected a bit of energy, but didn't achieve anything
Richards 6.5 -- looked lively, good vision

We were below par ("didn't achieve our levels") but, credit to Everton and Benitez, they were excellent, you could really see what they're trying to do. Their midfield four were brilliant also Seamus Coleman.

Sanchez - 7 - Some good claims and saves - seems to be settling in to Prem games with fans
Webster - 6 - Decent enough - but we need a proper right back in place to support him.
Duffy - 5 - Not a good game for him
Dunk - 5 - Ditto
Gross - 5 - Not really his fault out of position and no movement to play to.
Bissouma- 7 - some great moments
Lallana - 6 - More anonymous than usual
Moder - 5 - not one of his better games
MacAllister - 5 - Anonymous
Trossard - 7 - Tried to make a difference
Maupay - 5 - Not at his usual level

Welbeck - 5 - Not much from him
Veltman - 5 - clearly not ready.
Richards - 6.5 - looked decent - hopefully we will see more of him

Sanchez 7 - couple of good saves. In the best of worlds he comes out a bit sooner on the first goal to cut off the angle more but no major mistake.

Dunk 5 - gave away the ball in a few dangerous situations and it resulted in the first goal
Duffy 6 - did his job
Webster 7 - very busy day and couldnt be as productive as usual but did a good job helping Gross despite Everton targeting them

Gross 6 - did ok considering how much they tried to abuse him and his set pieces were class
Bissouma 8 - uncharacteristically lost a few easy balls but overall another great performance
Lallana 6 - did ok but was outmuscled and shut down
Moder 5 - poor in both directions and their experienced right side knew exactly how to make him pretty much redundant

Macallister 5 - made a good run or two to begin with but overall too little movement and not comfy with the ball
Trossard 7 - got a lot of shit in the match thread but I thought he did well and took a lot of initiatives

Maupay 7 - directly involved in 6 of Brightons attempts (all but one of the attempts created from open play) and looked generally tidy despite having little to work with.

Veltman 4 - that was not a fun watch. Think he has played a bit of LB over the years as he is able to play in any defensive position but looked far from match fit. Penalty challenge was very poor and he had a bunch of different options in that situation.
Welbeck N/A - got nothing, did nothing
Richards 6 - looked quite tidy and lively, hope to see more of him
