Yet another game of two halves. We could have been three or four nil down at half time if not for Stockdale. What the hell was our defence playing at?

Stockdale 8. Kept us in the game with those two saves. Not sure he could do anything with the goals. MOM.
Bruno 5. Not one of his best games. Some very poor crossing; let his man go for their first goal. Better in the 2nd half.
Greer 5. Culpable with the rest of the defence for the atrocious start.
Dunk 3. Awful game. Gave the ball away on countless occasions. Uwe needs to play on Saturday.
Calderon 5. Did OK, but we really really need a left footer at LB. Maybe Chicksen needs to be given another chance.
Kayal 8. Got better and better as the game progressed.
Stephens 7. Good, but not his best performance.
March 8. Another mostly excellent game BUT his crossing needs to improve. And he was guilty on at least one occasion of hanging on to the ball too long.
Murphy 6. Not his best performance.
Zamora 7. Looked poor in the first half. Was not winning much in the air and distribution poor. But a better second half and a very well taken goal.
Wilson 7. Poor first half; much better second. Great goal.

Subs:
Hemed 7. Well taken goal. He needed and deserved it.
La Parra 6. Didn’t see him do a lot (others closer to him in the East may well disagree), but a great for the goal.
Chicksen. Not on long enough.

Manager 8. Good substitutions.

Stockdale 9 - Without him we wouldn't have been able to even mount a comeback. Couple of vital saves, otherwise I fear the rest of the scores would be low!
Bruno 7 - Up against a winger who seemed to have a very good game.
Greer 7.5 - Not his best game but after conceding two early goals did look to keep geeing the side up and keep fighting.
Dunk 6 - Sadly not one of his better days.
Calderon 6 - Again not a good game, doesn't look comfortable enough as a Championship left back.
Murphy 6.5 - Fairly quiet game.
Kayal 8.5 - Love him for his sheer fight, I don't think people realise quite the PASSION he puts in to football. Constantly chasing it down, and a very good player.
Stephens 7 - Not his best game, fairly quiet again.
Solly March 9 - Thought he'd go off after the head collusion, but glad he didn't! Great game, great player, one of our own!
James Wilson 8 - This kid has got fantastic footwork, the ball just stuck to his feet for his goal. Made some very good runs off the ball too.
Bobby Z 8 - I just love him, gotta be in the right place to score! Seems to have that nack!

Subs:
Hemed 8 - Got the goal and got the fans going, maybe he's not technically the best or going through a bad patch but you can't knock his attitude and desire. So glad he scored the winner.
La Parra 7 - Great cross for Hemed, maybe it's no coincidence he comes on at 2-1 and 3 minutes later we're 3-2 up!
Chicksen - not on long enough.

Hughton 9 - Went 3-4-3 when losing and the substitutions came off, we'll ignore the slow start.

Stockdale 8 Kept us in the game in first half
Bruno 5 Absolute shocker first half, more in it in the second
Greer 7 Looked shell shocked at first but steadied the ship
Dunk 4 Really poor game: gave the ball away, misplaced passes, missed tackles, Time for Uwe
Calderon 6 Tried hard but not his best position
Murphy 7 A few decent runs, seems to want an extra touch too often
Kayal 9 My MOTM, played them on his own in first half and seemed to be involved in everything. Awesome game
Stephens 6 Not at his best
March 8 Some great skill but when's he going to learn to cross the ball?
Wilson 7.5 Looked off the pace at first but redeemed himself with that goal
Zamora 7 Really slow in first half, got involved more in second - an absolute talisman for the club

Subs
Hemed 7.5 He works so hard, did excellently when he came on. So pleased he scored
La Parra 7 Looks the biz, great cross for the winner

fair play to charlton, they hit us hard on the break and our defence looked very old today.

Stockdale 8 - kept us in the game
Bruno 5 - his worst game of the season
Greer 5 - ditto
Dunk 5 - as usual, a game littered with mistakes and moments of brilliance and
Calderon 7 - our best defender
Kayal 7 - busy but wasteful
Stephens 7 - seems to have lost his early season goal scoring form
March/Steve Foster 9 - another terrific performance. The only outfield player to come through the first half with any credit
Murphy 6 - shocker
Zamora 7 - three in three! Not his most influential game. He and Wilson looked like strangers. I guess they kinda still are!
Wilson 7 - would have been a 6 but for the goal (same as Zamora really)

Subs:
Hemed 7 - nice to see him get a break
La Parra 7 - an assist is about as much as you can ask of a late substitute winger

Everyone marked up for second half, obviously
Stockdale 9.5 - MoM by far. We could've easily been 5.0 down with any other Albion keeper I can recall . Absolutely superb for 90 minutes
Bruno 6 - Bad first half, got it together in the second. Like the team
Greer 7 - As Bruno but better
Dunk 5.5 - Sloppy & so predictably one footed. Improved
Calde 6
Murphy 6
Kayal 7 - We were so bad first half it was difficult to tell whether to blame the defence or the midfield. He has to bear some responsibility for that
Stephens 6 - See Kayal but not as good
March 7.5
Wilson 7.5
Bobby 7

Hemed 7.5 - great attitude
Van la Parra 7.5 - very promising
Chicksen N/A

CH 9 - from half time, did everything right

so reading that you may assume that all the boys thought they had to do was run out on the pitch and the result was already sorted....hopefully that was the wake up call they needed ..........one of my earliest memories of the goldstone was a 3-2 win v charlton 78 ish , must have been great to be there today ....

Was Bruno awful in the first half or was their teenage winger quality + clinical? Think it was a bit of both tbh, my only worry is Bruno has no competition now which can lead to deterioration in form of players.

A la last week, I don't see the point of this thread.
We all know, other than Stockdale, the first half was shithouse, while the second was an epic team performance.

Give everyone 8, Stockdale 9, wipe your face and move on to Derby.

Kind of in this camp to be honest today. Probably 5/6 at best first half for everyone where defensively we were a disaster, 8 for second for most, Stockdale was fantastic all game, all of them were in the second half. There is so much spirit in this squad....there really is, and Wilson and Va la Parra seem to have fitted in too.

So, so pleased Tomer got a goal. Could see from the way all the players reacted they were over the moon for him too.

What a fecking day.

Stockdale 8 MOM because kept us in game
Bruno 4 Very poor Even In 2nd half no defending to do but crossing terrible
Dunk 5 All over place in 1st half nothing to do in 2nd
Greer 6 Fair in half nothing to do in 2nd
Calderon 6 Defending ok but unable to contribute going forward.
Kayal 7 Prob a little generous but like fact he always wants ball.
Stevens 6 Did ok
Zamora 6 Very poor 1st half redeemed himself with goal
Murphy 5 Didn't realy contribute.
March 7 A handful always trying make something happen but passing and crosses woefull
Wilson 7 Bit generous because great goal and tries to make things happen.
Hemed 6 Wasn't in game but scored goal
Van la Parra 5 Not on long enough but produced I think one of only 2 decent crosses.

Because of 2nd half great entertainment but we were so poor in 1st half. Never seen anything like it .We could have been 5/6 down

You're a hard person to please after a most dramatic comeback from behind win you will ever see.

Really?
Ok for Real Madrid, Barcelona, maybe not.

Liverpool and Man Utd in champions league finals were great as well

But for little old Brighton it maybe a part of a historic season if we get promoted.

Stockdale 9 Made some excellent saves - looked like he could've stopped the first but they'd have been out of sight without his crucial saves today.
Bruno 2 first half, 7 second - that first half was the worst I've seen Bruno play (it happens to the best of them). I'd prefer to reflect on the improved second half where he looked to attack and defended much more effectively against their wide man. Culpable for their goals really, although left horribly exposed by Greer and the midfield.
Dunk 5 first half, 7 second - Much better with the ball at his feet than Greer. At least tries to win the ball higher up the pitch and has the pace to recover the majority of the time. Unsurprisingly, their goals and their best chances came from other areas of the defence (aside from his one misplaced pass midway through the first half which was poor). Unfortunately, next to Greer, his weaknesses are exploited much more often as he doesn't have a partner that covers him effectively when he can't nick the ball ahead of the attacker.
Greer 3 first half, 6 second - the negative tactical implications of having him in the side were there to see throughout the first half. He neither coves Bruno effectively, nor is close enough to sweep behind Dunk. When attackers run at him he's a massive liability. He improved in the second half as the midfield protected him much more effectively, but the quicker Uwe comes back into the side, the better.
Calderon 3 first half, 7 second - I love him but he looked like a headless chicken first half. He got a few cheers around me for winning the ball in the first half but on each occasion it was only a result of him being in totally the wrong position in the first place. Improved second half as he supported more offensively, but at the same time, he isn't a viable left back option going forward. It's no surprise that out of our two inverted wingers, the most effective one at the moment is March who has a full back going outside him.
Kayal 5 first half, 8 second - Neither he, nor Stephens, offered enough protection to the defence in the first half, nor did they keep the ball well enough. They looked completely disconnected to the forwards to be honest. However, he massively improved in the second half as he looked to link up further up the pitch and he did his utmost to make things happen.
Stevens 5 first half, 8 second - See above. The main difference between him and Kayal in the second half was that he sacrificed himself for the side much more by sitting deeper, protecting the defence and recycling the ball, whilst also giving Kayal more freedom to support the attack. Effective in his discipline in the second half.
Zamora 3 first half, 8 second - honestly, I didn't notice him in the first half. He seemed totally out of the game, he didn't hold the ball up and he didn't support Wilson particularly well. A drastic second half improvement as he sought out the ball, acted as the target man he's more than capable of being, and scored yet again, justifying Hughton's decision to drop/rest Hemed.
Murphy 5 first half, 7 second half - Suffering from the lack of a full back who goes on the outside of him. Always looks dangerous, though it didn't quite click for him with his final ball today.
March 6 first half, 8 second - Not quite as good as last week, but probably our best outfield player across the 90 minutes. Always looked to make things happen even if his final ball could've been better at times. Kept composed in the first half, even when those around him, including Bruno, were losing their heads. Alleviates pressure so well for us now that he's becoming a vital part of our side. Unlucky with his long range strike.
Wilson 5 first half, 8 second half - Like March, always tried to make things happen even if his end product wasn't always quite on point. His goal was a thing of real beauty and his role in the team, by offering movement in behind defences, offers us a much more rounded threat going forward. Until Baldock is back, it should be him + an other.
Hemed 8 - for such a short cameo, I thought he made a big difference. He really drove at the defence, pressured them and constantly tried to motivate those around him. Should probably stay on the bench next week, but if he starts to perform more regularly like he did when he came on, then he'll be back in the team sooner rather than later (or when Zamora needs a rest/stops scoring so regularly).
Van la Parra 7 - came on, got an assist. Well done lad.

Hughton - fair play to him for turning the team around at half time. He made a ballsy decision bringing Hemed on for Murphy and it initially took the steam out of us. Eventually paid off though, and he deserves the credit for building a side that, having played as badly as we did in the first half (as all teams do from time to time), had the ability and the passion to come back in the second half.
