Veltman 6 Pretty good given he’s a bit out of position
Burn 5 Not too bad, I bet he was proud to be captain

Bissouma 6 Seems to have lost his spark, still competent though
Mwepu 6 Got into a couple of goal scoring positions which was good, shame he didn’t get that goal
Moder 5 Set pieces were more miss than hit, still learning, still young
March 5 Combined ok with Cucurella at times, not his day
Connolly 4 Didn’t really get into the game, very few touches

Very flat performance, we didn’t look much like scoring. One of those games where I wondered if the 9 hours of driving was really worth it. Oh well

Sanchez 8 - made some good saves and could do nothing about the goal

Lamptey 6 - seemed to be playing within himself. I guess as Potter told him he’d have to play 90 minutes for the first time

Burn 4 - looked shaky throughout

Veltman 5 - a shadow of the player he was last season although didn’t look fit to be fair

Cucurella 6 - not terrible but played everything safe which he wasn’t doing when we first signed him

Bissouma 4 - really lost his way. Wasn’t breaking up play or driving forward with the ball and made 2 big mistakes for their goal

Mwepu 5 - started the game well but the awful miss really seemed to affect his confidence

Moder 4 - pretty anonymous apart from several dreadful corners

March 6 - didn’t really work for him but at least he was trying to make things happen

Trossard 5 - very quiet. I think they realised he was our only threat so marked him out of the game

Connolly 3 - pointless. I know he has no service but he offered nothing. Way off Premier League standard

Subs:

Mac Allister 5 - a few decent passes but was way too deep to have any influence

Richards 6 - looked promising

Lallana 5 - one good pass through but several bad touches and starting to look like a player on the decline which is natural at his age

One of the season's worst performances with nobody except the goalkeeper playing very well and several playing badly. With that and Dunk, Duffy, Webster, Maupay and Welbeck unavailable, none of which was Potter's fault, not a great surprise.

Sanchez 8 MOM (says it all). Could have been 5 without him.
Lamptey 6 Saw a lot of the ball but was kept well under control
Cucurella 6
Veltman 6
Burn 5 Could easily have cost us a goal from a back pass
Bissouma 5 Marked down one for the dreadful clearance that led to the goal. Otherwise OK but not the Bissouma we know.

Lamptey 7. We were overloaded on the right while March was on the right and Tariq wasn't getting the right through balls. They were able to put 2 on him most of the time.
Veltman 7. Did ok but I prefer him on the right of a 3 when we have 3 CBs to choose from!
Burn 5. Weak last night
Cucurella 7. Always works his socks off. Very little support on his side first half. Maybe he should take set pieces as his crossing is usually pretty good.
Mwepu 6. Awful misses mark him down but he has loads of potential.
Bissouma 6. Failed to boss the pitch. Now he can go out over Xmas !!!!
March 5. Very poor and awful set pieces. He is usually a much better player than this.
Connolly 3. Should have been off for Ferguson at half time. Needs to go on loan in January
Trossard 5. Anonymous in the first half. Better in the second. I suppose he was due a poor game.

An average performance overall Veltman did his job better than in recent games, but other than that no one stood out enough for positive feedback.
Not a bad performance, just meh.

Some harsh marks and not really sure if all the players were actually fit but based on what was played.

Sanchez 6.5. OK. did what he had to and a bit more
Lamptey MOTM 7. Usual good game - shame we didn't get a penalty but an exciting player even when not at his best
Veltman 6.5 Thought he did nothing wrong - not enough drive but to be fair he was their to defend.
Burn 5. Got away with that back pass. plays his best when running forward . None of that last night. Had to laugh when commentator said he was the 'obvious' target for Brighton corners.
Cucurella 6.75 Works hard one of the better players last night
Mwepu 6. good game but has to score so marked down
Bissouma 5.5. Failed to boss the pitch and poor booking when he knows team is already stretched
March 5. needs to have done better with his shot... not a good performance from him.
Connolly 3. Did not get involved - shows how much we miss Maupay harrying everyone ...He needed to work his socks off and didn't.
Trossard 5. Anonymous but lets be clear he was coming back from what looked like a serious injury
Moder 5.5 work rate was good, set pieces were appalling.
Subs:
MacAllister 6. A possitive player but a bit weak. Need ihim in top half of pitch
Lallana 5.5 OK performance but expect more as has been quite influential this season
Richards 5.5 Not enough time - but does not have physical presence to replace Biss so we will need to play a different more fluid game

Ferguson should have been on for Connolly , I assume he will start on Sunday with Tolaj on the bench

Another one forgetting Moder! Maybe you're blocking out the trauma of his set pieces? I'll do it for you: 4 One of the worst games I've seen him play - he looked disinterested. And, ffs, he is 6ft 3. If he doesn't want to damage his pretty face heading the ball, at least he can make a nuisance of himself in the box. On that showing he should never take corners again. Disclosure - I watched a stream.

I think it’s the grind of draws and losses, a win would lift all of us. Villa Park was just like the Amex when we played them, silence and nerves in the stadium, until they scored….now they’re doing alright.

Trip home was a bit crap, M25 slip road closed, accident near Bath, roadworks, Severn Bridge closed…got home at 1-50 am. Oh well I’ll probably be there for the next one (whenever that might be).
