I thought we started brightly in the first few minutes, but liverpool soon established themselves. In the few minutes after they took the lead I was fearing a complete rout, but we held out, and late in the first half started to play our game more.
In the second half, Liverpool seemed to sit back and let us pile on the pressure. While I thought we played well over most of the pitch, it seemed that for all the pressure we put liverpool under, in that second half we rarely even tested Reina.
The first goal was poor defence, Bridcutt and greer left the gap for Bellamy, and goals from that angle across the keeper always look like they should be saved. The second is the sort you risk conceding when chasing an equaliser, and I don't think it's fair to fault anyone.
Ankergren 6.5 - Made one save, but too often was motionless and saved by the woodwork, errant finishing or defenders.
Vincelot 7.5
Cook 7.5 - solid return to the team, didn't look out of his depth
Greer 9 - I think he put in a fantastic performance, supported Cook and was a rock in defence
Calderon 7 made some good runs and linked well with noone
Sparrow 6.5
Bridcutt 8.5
Navarro 7
Buckley 7.5 - lacked a little with the final ball, but made some great runs, but seemed to go down too easily, and the ref seemed to pick up on that
CMS 7.5
Noone 8.5 - I usually find Noone frustrating as he often tries to take on too many men, make another turn, go back and eat a man again, but there was none of that tonight. Tremendous performance.
Vicente 8 - oozed class, and even when not 100% showed he still has a certain quality about him
Barnes 8 - I thought he looked up for it, wanted to be involved, positive, made some good turns and fit right into the team. Good finish for the pen.
Lualua 7
I thought the ref wasn't that bad. There was obviously some brighton fans questioning his decisions, but I thought h got most stuff right. There were a few liverpool challenges where I thought a yellow card would be shown had it been a brighton challenge, but generally I thought he was ok.
