Yep. I was there.

I think the ball going to Murray and not wood is part of the plan. Murray is clearly very strong in the air, Wood can receive well and is strong and can then play Murray in when he has spun into the gaps.

With a different ref Murray would have got a red card last night so I would not give him MOTM....can't argue with El Abd but Wood was a contender and I'm not the only person who thought he had a good game in fact I cant see anyone else who thought he didnt.

I was in the away end last night (it was a free ticket and made a change and yes the view is THAT bad). You do get a different perspective of the game from listening to their fans. They saw our ‘number 7’ as the best player on the pitch whereas I didn’t think Bennett was up to his usual high standard. Personally I thought Murray was the key man last night, his link up play was brilliant and was unfortunate not to score.
The Colchester fans did get some credit in my book for giving John Solako some abuse for being a ’Palace reject’ it’s just a shame that he probably didn’t hear the 8 of them /us as I did join in that one.

Firstly, really good team performance. Stuck to our plan - mixed up over-the-top balls with passing into gaps nicely. Soaked up a bit of pressure for the first half hour (and a short spell in the second at 1-0) but generally looked good. Hit the post, shots off the line - generally threatening in a controlled way. Typical performance this season against a side who are hard to beat. Another clean sheet. And a decent crowd for a re-arranged game on a wet midweek night (although Colchester Clioggers should be ashamed of themselves for bringing less than 200).

Ankregan 7 - would have said 6 but two really good saves that I recall which were critical.
Painter 7 - form is picking up now. Looked solid after taking a battering early on.
Calderon 7 - as Painter, seems to be getting his mojo back.
El Abd 8 - God, what a player. Surely this is not the ame man we have been watching all these years. Gus is an alchemist.
Greer 8 - did a lot of sweeping up and was everywhere at the back. Often does more than people give him credit for.
Dicker 5/7 - not sure how to score him. generally played nicely but lapses can make him a liability at times. He's not a "7 everygame" kind of guy.
Kisheshev 7.5 - superb. Brought us the control we needed in midfield.
Bennett 6.5 - 7 in the first half, 6 in the second when he dropped deeper. Love this man - he was everywhere first half.
Bridcutt 7 - Workhorse. Sweeper. Played well and with a slight niggle apparently.
Wood 5/7 - First half missed every header and ball wouldn't stick (though a great run through their defence). Second half stepped up a notch.
Murray 8 - should startevery game in my view. Should be given huge credit for the first goal. Didn't have his shooting boots on, but made life a nightmare for th Col CB's and was kicked all over the park. Class act. Could easily have been sent off for a second booking twice (kicked the ball away and dived badly)

Barnes 6 - didn't really click, but kept the defenders on the back foot.
Noone 8 - was an 8/10 performance, but in fairness he had loads of room because Col were chasing the game. TV does not do that goal justice - utterly sublime feet and loved the celebration down in front of us. With confidence, he's going to be crucial in our run-in and based on what the Col manager said, other teams worry about him.
Sandaza 6 - not on long enough.

By the by - The Complete Todger. Why do you always seem to be so strident? Does it ever occur to you to have a debate rather than set out to prove yourself right and everyone else wrong?
