Just a couple of points on players.....

Wood= Honestly i hate being negative about any Brighton player, but the guy needs to be so much stronger he is. Any ball towards his head or chest just seems to be easily won by the defender. He was unlucky with his diving header that hit the post and his link up play when the ball is played to his feet is good, BUT i really do expect so much more from a strapping lad like that in the 50/50's.

Muzza= A complete menace to the Colchester defence. So much so all they could do is foul him. Excellent display but my only criticism is that he still gets caught offside when he shouldnt!

Bennet= Quiet one from him today. Overhit passes, and looked like the angry kid everytime someone didnt find him with a pass. Just an off day?

El Abd= Committed as ever! Quality defending from the lad.

Mostly good performance from Ankergren, caught the ball confidently, only negative was a couple of skewed passes when under pressure

Defensively comfortable. Great moments of finesse as well as throwing his body in the way from el abd, calderon didn't ventue forward as much, but was mostly effective when he did, especially with the goal.

Dicker made a couple of errors, but mostly made good passes, with a couple of sublime moments of distribution. Giving him less than 7 is a crime. The midfield was also comfortable, a fair few moments of pure passing football to get out of tight spots.

Forwards there was a moment when murray was breaking, wood was in a great position, and murray hit a shot like his penalties - not a lot of power in an easily savable spot, and Wood was clearly annoyed. This was shortly followed by wood breaking with murray in support and I just knew wood was going to take the shot, almost in repayment for Murray not passing, that was when he spooned it massively over. Murray had quite a few heavy touches tonight, costing him possession a lot, but other than those two issues was very good, but his going down is more annoying when the ref doesn't fall for it.

There was a brief moment in the middle of the first half where it felt like the ref not giving us anything and the colchester players seemed to be getting to the players and I was worried we were going to see one of our players getting a red. I thought Murray had lashed out at one of their players, but thankfully I was either wrong or the ref didn't see it and simply gave a yellow.

Generally, I thought it was a comfortable performance by everyone, not our best performance this season, but comfortable and confident and good to see some of those passing moves.

I'm not going to fall into the 'we won so everyone must have been a 7 or 8' trap. Based on 5 being average:

Ankergren 5 - not much to do, what he did do he did reasonably comfortably, but not enough to stand out as particularly good or bad tonight.

Calderon 5 - I thought he was struggling against Wordsworth early on, as was Painter on the other side. Decent goal and a solid second half means it was an ok evening for the Matador.
Greer 6 - excellent at times but one or two dodgy moments in the second half for gorgeous Gordon.
El Abd 7 - superb, player of the season. Jesus, did I just say that?
Painter 6 - reasonably defending like the others and also got forward quite well.

Bennett 8 - best player on the pitch in my opinion, particularly in the first half when he just summed up why he's so highly rated by us all.
Bridcutt 6 - good at times, fairly mediocre at times. I'm not convinced he's amazing, nor do I think he's a chump.
Kishishev 6 - not quite as involved tonight as he often is, but still showed his class on occasions.
Dicker 4 - sorry but that was about as bad as I've seen a good player play this season.

Wood 7 - he's turning out to be a rare entity, i.e. a subject on which I am proved wrong. I thought he was shit, he's actually bloody good.
Murray 8 - great stuff from sexy Glenn, as it has been for about two months now.

how can everyone else give dicker a 7 but you give him a 4? your so negative, at 4 is a very bad performance.

No, on a full ten point scale it is just lower then the average. What's the point of using a full ten point scale if everyone is automatically 7+ after a win.

To be honest, as much as I am a fan of Dicker, some of his passing was very poor tonight.

Well if you're going to write people off you have to hold your hands up sometimes. Luckily for me I'm often right, and that's a gift only the chosen few will ever enjoy, but this season I've been wrong on Casper and Wood.

Don't be a flid. Read my post and you will see rather than the MORONIC player ratings this site churns out, which basically involves all 6s and 7s if we lose and all 7s and 8s if we win, I prefer to do mine based on a 5 being an average score in tonight's match. The fact I have rated only one of our eleven players as below average in a two-horse race suggests I am not being negative. Engage brain before posting please.

Hang on a min you little twat. i know people do usally overrate the ratings but your always negative, not just about player rating but about everything. To me and to most people a 4 is a poor performance.you can call me a flid from behind your wank stained keyboard, but ive heard your a twat so ill let you get on with it.

We say that 5 is average so how shite do you have to play to get a 1? has there ever been a 1 in a paper ect?

I would say for a player like Dicker whose biggest asset is his passing, he was pretty wayward tonight. He did a couple of very nice things in the first half, but overall that wasn't the player I've been watching all season.

Your obviously basing your point on 2 bad passes made by Dicker. One was an attempted pass with the outside of the boot which if you've ever played the game would know if you slightly miss hit the ball, it'll look like the worst pass ever. The other bad pass was in the same minute. This is how you are judging Dicker whole match performance. You clearly can't read a game to a good standard, Dicker was instrumental at linking up play tonight and for me was the best centre-midfielder tonight. He's better than Sparrow and more composed than Bridcutt.
