I have a feeling this is going to happen.

Seems we have been priced out of every decent striker so have to take a chance on a free agent.

I personally don't think he will be a success but we all need to give him a chance if it happens not like the attitude by the large majority to Billy Paynter.

Frederic Piquionne wanted by Brighton boss Gus Poyet

Brighton boss Gus Poyet is in talks with West Ham over a move for striker Frederic Piquionne.

The 33-year-old Frenchman can quit Upton Park on a free transfer.

He is in the final year of his deal with the Hammers and is not part of Sam Allardyce's first team squad.

The former Portsmouth man spent time on loan at Doncaster last season, scoring twice in eight games.

But his presence failed to save Dean Saunders' men from dropping into League One.

SP Note. I hope not.

Take it from someone who saw an awful lot of Piquionne at both Portsmouth and West Ham - he is so shit it's unbelievable. His ability to miss from any range including point-blank is utterly incredible. I once saw him hit the ball sideways from six inches out. I'm better than him, and I'm easily the worst striker I know. We do not want this so-called player at any price, including free.

Needs love

This guys looks a totally different personality from Vokes and BDB.

Ego I think plays a big part with this guy.

Give him some love, and build him, which Gus is good at, and I think he could be ideal.

Big guy, can score goals, and has a touch of flair about him

This has the feel of a post we'll be digging up in 9 months time (either for good or bad reasons).

Aye, but his record suggests not frequently enough.

He was prolific in the French league for St Etienne, but he hasn't really shown his true protential over here. If we do go and sign him, hopefully he will fit into our system well and be the type of player to work alongside CMS. The guy is a enormous talent, but he hasn't really proved it over here yet.

He's 33. He's leaving it a bit late!
