I was quite reluctant to wear my stripes for the run because I think wearing footy shirts as an adult anywhere other than football is a bit....... Plebish. However the support I got from start to finish because of it was f***ing incredible. I'm not ashamed to say that from about 16 miles I really struggled. But hearing seagulls chants aimed at me as i hobbled past was a pretty amazing thing.

So what I'm trying to say is......
THANK YOU.

You're welcome (I think it was me shouting 'Seagulls!' that made you look over). You looked in pretty good shape at 11.5 miles though.

Do you think chimneys didn't like it?

Triggaaar-I didnt like it I LOVED it!! (many apols for delay in getting back to you, but its been a mad 24 hours).

That photo is the crowning memory of one of the stand out days of my life! A 44 year old with the look of glee of a 5 year old having set eyes on Father Christmas in the flesh! That's love of the Albion for you!

I am forever in your debt.

Fully understand about getting your permission to reproduce. I would love to get a framed photo for me (and me mum-ahhh!). Should I send you a PM?

(BTW having just spotted you are promoting sponsorship of Whoopsadaisy, will happily donate to that (via Barrel of Fun?) by way of thanks unless you are operating on a commercial basis?).

Once again, many, many thanks!

Phew, I was beginning to feel unloved.

Yes, I'll get you the right file for printing. It would look a bit rubbish if you printed from the one on here.

That would be great, thank you (no, not doing it for profit). I've never met BoF (because he was too slow :D ), but he's running for the charity that help my children, which is much appreciated  I understand he's said he's up for next year too, and this time, he's going to train!

Quality effort by both Triggaaar (for the top photos) and BoF for the running for Whoopsadaisy.

I can confirm Chimneys was one happy guy at the finish and so he should be with that time.

But what time did he get? Strangely, the results page shows that his race time and chip time were both 3:30:20 (so one of the times is wrong), but my information suggests his chip time should be about 3 minutes less than the race time. Quite important when dealing with whether or not he broke the 3:30 achievement.

He broke the 3:30 as I understand. A great achievement.

Indeed it is. That's as good as any non-club every day runner can do, only serious runners break 3 hours.

It completely amazes me that people can run 26 sub 5 minute miles in a row.

Well spotted Triggaaar! An interesting tale there chaps! Best if I send you the email I sent to the marathon people yesterday morning which explains:

"Greetings

First of all many thanks for a very well organised marathon, which I really enjoyed.

However there is one issue I am very unhappy about! When I checked my times on Sunday evening, you stated my gun time correctly (3 hrs 30 mins 20 secs), but gave me no chip time. I note a number of others had a similar disappointment, including a number of the elites.

You have since compounded matters, by now giving my gun and chip times as the same. Not sure if that is in the hope nobody would notice.

My own Garmin measured actual time was 3 hrs 27 mins 8 secs, over 3 minutes less than the chip time you have now given me in the “official” results, and crucially for me, well inside my target PB of beating a 3’30. I started towards the back of the red corral which fits with the just over 3 mins it took me to get to the start line.

Can you please let me know what you are proposing to do about this most unsatisfactory situation, when, as I’m sure you know, time is everything to a runner who has put 16 weeks hard graft into doing their best on the big day!

I also trust you have complained to the suppliers of the chip technology in the strongest possible terms.

Race number 7256.

Regards"

And here is their response today:

"Hi

Sport Systems are aware of the error in placing gun times in under chip times and are working to correct this issue as soon as possible – Your details have been forwarded to them in order for them to correct this problem.

Kind Regards,
BM Team"

If they dont sort, I reckon your photo is perfect proof. The guy next to me in the photo (522), gun time 3'15'06-chip time 3'11'55 i.e. 3 mins 11 quicker. Knock same off my gun time gives 3'27'09 (1 sec off my Garmin time).

Will let you know what they come back with.

Triggaaar, have sent you a PM re my photo.

Thanks again.

 you're email is quite snotty isn't it :) The metadata on the photos show when the Elites passed Gus, and when you passed just over 3 minutes later.

Thought I was being relatively restrained! Oops!

I can live with technology going wrong, it happens, but when on Tuesday they put my gun time the same as my chip time, that I thought was a poor show!

I know there are far more important things to worry about in life, but I gave that marathon everything I had, and currently feel slightly cheated. I'm hopeful they will rectify, even if just to get me to go away!:lolol:

They definitely have to fix it, I can well believe you gave it everything to finish in under 3:30.

Girl I work with came 9th in Ladies race. Bloody good I think.
How strange, my mates girlfriend finished 9th in the ladies race....
So she has work colleagues and a boyfriend. What a hussy. 9th is amazing though, so quite how she has time for work and men I have no idea.
