Good to hear your thoughts and thanks for your comments. I understand what you are saying and I think that generally the photographer should only ever take photos that they would feel comfortable having taken of them or their family. I did ask approval for a lot of the photos I took and also told people that I would be posting on here for them to see. No one I spoke to minded and lots were happy to be photographed but I do understand that not everyone likes it so I just use common sense and a bit of judgement.

Oh and I meant more in general than these pictures - I love them and kind of expect it at football as it is such an event and the build up is all part of it. Wasn't for a second suggesting you had not asked for approval etc. Please don't think of it as a criticism of them at all or implying you hadn't asked.

More a case of feeling uncomfortable when people do it with no approval or just to get 'the feel' of a town like the guy in Newbury was. He definitely had no common sense what so ever and tried to have a go at me complaining. All in all it was probably harmless and I am not a Daily Mail reading nutter that assumes everyone is a paedophile or illegal immigrant but on that occasion it just didn't feel right.

Like you say - if done right, with a bit of sense and thoughtfully then it is a brilliant way to get the atmosphere and beauty of the day. Things like reading the programme n the bus home just sums up everything great about football that you just don't see in the official match photos

My thoughts as well. I love it at times but also find it weird

A guy was doing it in Newbury a few years ago and took a picture of my wife, child and myself, no approval from us what so ever. Led to us feeling very uncomfortable so me challenging him and making him delete the pictures. Don't like the idea of someon I do not know taking pictures of my child especially without my knowledge or approval. However, I love seeing the atmosphere of things like this.

If you are in a public place then no approval is required and in theory you cannot make the photographer delete the pictures if they were not intruding (I.e sticking the camera right in your face).

That is very useful info! Thanks. Unfortunately I've missed the last two games with slipped disks but i want to try to walk up from the bridge if possible next week. [emoji3]
