Who was hosting the phone-in?
Steve Grant I think his name is, he is Comedy Steve on here and I thought he did a good job and should get the post permanently for every phone in.
I thought the first 10 minutes of the phone in was the most boring thing I'd ever listened to, which is part of the reason why I didn't bother phoning in.
The BBC need to review the situation in my opinion, we won't have a phone in after too much more of this.
have to agree with you on this, i thought the title "phone in" should give a clue to the guy presenting the show, it's not "comedy hour" or "time for jovial banter" its a phone in about the match and the albion.
Its just not the same without harty IMHO
Agreed. It should be an albion debate with a panel of three plus callers, as they do for the leeds phone in. (the leeds one I listened to had a presenter, and the old leeds legend Peter Lorimer giving a view with fans phoning in and it was a good show with momentum as a result). Radio sussex came up with some lame excuse about needing to have passed a pointless qualification before someone can broadcast. Radio Leeds have shown that to be drivel, and Radio 5 live has guests / ex players on all the time. Either way if they need some pointless qualification then the bbc could just get a few people through to pass the pointless exam and get a few people in the studio. At the end of the day we are the customer and we dont really give two figgs about their rules all we have to do is judge the show, and the verdict is that it can and should be improved - so bbc sussex, get on and I suggest you listen and learn from from the radio leeds model
What about we by pass the bbc and get juice fm to run a phone in as we want? They can then blitz advertise it at hoome games to get it to become "the" albion radio station. As radio Sussex dont want to change, then lets find another radio station
Hi Jamie
Do see the merit on your ideas regarding format. However the phone-in is done FROM THE GROUND where both technically and logistically your idea is impossisble, and budget wise, Leeds has (this is no exaggeration) approximately 10 times the money BBC Sussex gets. You have to remember most of the people involved in the phone-in here do it for a minimal fee and to be honest, now that I work with the guys behind the scenes, on the budget they have and the time they are given it's amazing there's a phone-in at all.
Feel free to pitch that idea to Juice - and best of luck with it
