Petrol now £1.25 per litre, WTF??

Just had to fill my car up on the way home from work, and couldn't believe the price of unleaded had gone up so much since I last fuelled up a couple of weeks ago.

£1.25 a litre, and that wasn't even at some outrageously overpriced motorway services or airport petrol station where there's a captive audience. It was at my local Tesco.

They have HIKED that up even more than normal in the past few weeks. And to think the truckers blockaded the petrol stations a few years back when it got to a quid a litre. Disgusting profiteering from the petrol companies on the back of the winter weather methinks.

You are assisting the title charge of Man City. It'll make a change from the usual three or something.

How do I get to work in a manner that does not assist Man City's title charge? Or the Qatar World Cup?

Dial 999, coupled with the words 'officer down'.

I'm pretty sure the police must get their diesel from the same sources as most people though ???

We are pricing workers out of the options of bothering to work at this rate along with Train Season Tickets going up 12%

Especially when you consider the practically non-existent pay rises the majority of us have "enjoyed" over the last few years!

Ah, I thought it was not helping Man City directly from your own pocket. We are at the mercy of the oil man. Roll on renewable energy.

Well sort of. I pay taxes, thus fund the police as much as anyone. The police have to pay for fuel, so one way or another we're all paying.

It is becoming a big issue now and will become more predominant next year as wages are squeezed however costs of goods spiral.

If interest rates went up as well heaven knows what will happen.

I think we know. We had a brief taster with the Students and the University fees recently. Some of us remember 1981 and the riots that started in Toxteth and spread to other parts of the country. (to be fair they were probably weekly occurences in Toxteth but the media captured the events)

Those riots were more to do with no work not having to spend all you wages just keeping your head above water.

I still think there will be discontent with prices rising, wages not moving and the proposed cuts in the pipeline. There will be legal protests, the anarchy mob will get involved and it will kick off!

I would like to be wrong on this one BTW.

I don't disagree as those that are honest and work and pay taxes are really being hit hard now. We have lost some of the family allowance and now have £100 added to the mortgage.

Mrs Hut is now fretting about the issue of less tops being purchased at White Stuff................and it is not funny to say the least.

The fact that one parent earning just over the 40% tax threshold loses family allowance but a couple earning £40,000 each keep it is nothing short of a disgrace.

Tell me about it, if we could "adjust" our wages it would make quite a difference.

Such is life

Yep, I'm walking a tightrope at the moment, not sure if my earnings are going to nip into the higher rate this year. If they do, do I lose child benefit forever, or do I get it back if I'm under next year ?
