It will be as expensive as beer soon.

I just bought a 25L can of posh petrol for my race car . . . That is the price of beer.

I switched jobs 3 months ago, have saved over £600 in petrol so far and sold the car. A lucky move, and well worth the pay cut

Although cycling makes me hungry and food is getting expensive too!

About time the government stepped in and helped.

Unless you’re a friend, a neighbour or family member, you’ll need to make a sizeable donation for this to happen I’m afraid.

This is not just about the price it costs all of us to drive our cars it will significantly increase logistics costs which will manifest itself as higher priced food, goods and services.

Maybe in the future only people who need to drive will be able to do it while people who are just too lazy to walk, bike or take the bus/train will have to live without the luxuary.

In the past 5 years driving has never been a luxury. You say only people who need to drive will be able to I disagree they might need to drive but not necessary be able to afford to. Pump prices will have a knock on effect to all of us with price increase

Five oaks today just outside Billingshurst. As a taxi driver who’s only just comming out the other side because of the pandemic this is the last thing we need . All we can do is refuse to pay that .1.5 mile down the road from this garage is a new shell £159.9 why such a gap … rip off Britain at its best

About time the government stepped in and helped those who will get hit hardest.

I'm sure the government will step in soon, when they realise their cut of this astronomical price is fixed at 57.95p per litre, they will want their cut of £1.80+ per litre - probably say its to help cut the NHS waiting lists / care crisis / war effort / take your pick!

I suppose they were going to take the Covid money back some how, hit every body with expensive fuel bills.

I'm a bit cross at all those idiots saying "Oh we think everyone should go back to office as normal, blah blah blah mental health blah improves collaboration blah". As a result of such nonsense, I'm supposed to be going back to the office 2 days a week, which is an 80 mile round trip, to sit at my desk poring over spreadsheets and not speaking to anyone. It was eyewatering at £1.30 a litre, let alone £1.50 or even £1.70 now.

there's also VAT. there is scope for treasury to cut duty or VAT, keep same revenues while also helping with pump prices. lets hope they do so.
