Irrespective of looks she won the Championship by playing good tennis. better than Sharapova so give her credit and I don't particularly like tennis but enjoyed watching that match.

fair play to her she was awesome throughout the fortnight. Yes the womens game isn't at its best at present but you can only beat whats put in front of you and she did that with class. Shara didnt really get a look in.

True. And I swear to god I'm no flag-waving, bra burning feminist, but you've no idea how disappointing it can be when all you ever hear is women in the public eye being judged on their appearance. It's not just sport, it happens on TV regularly, and people wonder why their daughters end up with low self esteem or worse, stuff like anorexia. Even saying that, I'm very conscious of over-dramatising, but it's a pretty crap feeling for young girls who think they'll never have a chance to amount to much (in certain fields) because they don't fit a certain profile.
