Im just about to do a fair few zeros with Amazon whats this link thing ?

If you click to Amazon via NSC, either using the link at the top of every page, or that one in my signature, then NSC will earn approx. 5% cashback on your spend.

Many thanks for the interest in this item.

I am in a slightly awkward position in that I have to be fair to the vendor and all the bidders, and cannot be seen to "fix" the auction!

There will be plenty of people bidding big money for this shirt, no doubt. The Albion Collectors' and Historians' Society (BHACHS) may well be among them. BHACHS does have funds of its own, but as with most organisations, it could always do with more to achieve its aims.

So, if NSC decides it would like to buy this shirt and donate it to the museum then it would be gratefully accepted by BHACHS (which has been given a remit by the club to provide the museum). I think that would be great because we want the museum to be a genuine supporters' facility, so an item bought specifically by supporters would be most fitting. The shirt would be looked after for posterity. It might not be permanently on display purely because we need to rotate exhibits and keep things fresh, but there would ample opportunity for supporters to enjoy it.

As I said, I cannot "fix" the auction - but I am always pleased to meet and talk to people on NSC, especially anyone attending the fair on Sunday :)

On the general point made by HCQ about a list of items, then yes, let me know if you have anything you think might be worthy of display. I made this same appeal in the Argus, Albion programme and NSC a few weeks ago - and had one reply! We do not demand that items are donated to us - although you are most welcome to - but we are trying to find out what's out there that we may not know about with a view to displaying items on loan for a period for everyone to enjoy. In fact, it's to tease out historic items sitting in people's lofts that we have run this auction for the last eight years - and happily, it's worked yet again!

And finally, can I appeal to whoever does win the shirt on Sunday NOT to get it signed. In my humble (and possibly controversial) opinion, autographs ruin historic items.

BHACHS is also very happy to hear from supporters with suggestions and ideas for the museum, or any useful talents to help us achieve a great supporter facility. PM me if this applies to you.

I'm happy to bung 25 quid into a pot to buy this shirt for posterity but I take the point about needing to make sure we aren't bidding against each other, and also Tim's point about not fixing the auction.

Do we know who is selling it? Could we buy it before the auction?

And I also agree that it shouldn't be signed but I'm sure PW would write some authentification.

Whoever wants my 25 quid let me know!

As already stated I am interested in the Wardy shirt however.............
I am not interested in pushing the price up needlessly when the shirt will go to the museum.
Yes, I would like it hanging on my wall selfishly just for me and mine but I also think, as the club have no interest (God only knows why?) in securing such an item, if you have a finacial capability in excess of what I have in place then I dont want to push it up by hundreds of pounds and thus wasting BAHACS and NSC funds.

Perhaps you would like to PM me?

Before anybody starts suggesting that I am trying to fix the auction please remember that we probably wont be the only interested parties involved I merely seek to not waste money that could be useful elsewhere.

I am willing to put £25 in towards this shirt or more if it would make a difference. I really think this is a special item that should be on public display in the new museum.

I'm not sure if the History Man made this clear, but normally he will accept written bids emailed to him before the auction and bids will then be placed on our behalf up to the maximum bid we specify in case nobody can make it along on Sunday.

BHACHS moves in mysterious ways sometimes. Rest assured that we will do everything we can to ensure that historic Albion memorabilia, including this shirt - emotionally significant for many supporters - will end up on public display.

Thanks for not responding to my earlier post despite the fact that I have stated that I would loan it if I won and equally as importantly that I didnt want to waste BHACHS funds by pushing the price up.

Can I now assume that it is a done deal or you just dont want to communicate with the likes of moi?

1. Sorry, I didn't infer any such statement from what you said before. My apologies for misunderstanding.

2. I have no idea who you are, so "the likes of moi" means nothing to me. Don't take it personally. I am under huge time pressure at the moment to get things organised and cannot respond to every personal enquiry right now, otherwise the fair/auction won't take place.

3. I repeat that BHACHS will do all in its power to ensure that this shirt is secured for public display. I am not going to prejudice the auction or the position of BHACHS by commenting further.

4. Many thanks to Franks Wild Years for his efforts.
