things arent getting any better for them are they not sure if he was sacked or he stepped down but poor plymouth they are in a right old mess!
Cheer up peter Reid oh what what can it be, to a day dream believer and a shit football team.
Plymouth Argyle Football Club (In Administration) today announced that Peter Reid has left his position as manager of the football club.
Peter joined Argyle as manager at the beginning of the 2010-11 season and inherited an unsustainable wage bill and a club that with the benefit of hindsight was in financial meltdown.
During the last 15 months Peter has been the ultimate professional and has gone about his duties without complaining and has had to cope with more in a short period of time than most managers have to put up with in a whole career.
Ultimately however, whatever the challenges, football is a results business and, today, Argyle sit bottom of the Football League with only one point out of 27.
It is crucial that we give ourselves time to attempt to preserve Football League status and therefore it is felt that a change of manager now is the only option.
Peter leaves with our unreserved thanks for his contribution in helping keep the club alive during this turbulent period and he leaves with our very best wishes for the future.
An announcement will be made within the next 24 hours with regard to interim arrangements for the management of the first team.
Peter Ridsdale
Acting Chairman
Ridsdale has sacked Reid.
I'm absolutely disgusted with this decision. Yes we are bottom, with 1 point from 27, but Reid has been working with both hands tied behind his back.
We are playing youth teamers and young loanees with 2 or 3 more experienced players in the squad (and we've just lost one of those for the next 3 games).
The players haven't been paid properly since November last year....what did Ridsdale expect? Most of this appears to be Ridsdales fault. Ridsdale was the one so behind Heaney as he would of got his grubby mits on a club for £1. The takeover could of been done and dusted months ago. Reid would of had time to assemble a squad, rather than having to promote the youth teamers. Our forward line is being led by a 16 year old kid for heavens sake!! It's Ridsdale who should be out, not Reid.
From the BBC live football updates:
1257: Further to the news at 1200 that Peter Reid and Plymouth have parted company, I can now report that Reid was sacked. A real kick in the teeth that, considering he recently auctioned off his 1986 FA Cup final losers' medal to help some of Argyle's unpaid staff.
On the face of it, that's very poor indeed.
