As previously said he has turned us down once why should he come here other than for money. If we play well on Saturday he may be impressed with what Gus is building and want to join us.

Leven was a great replacement for keith andrews after the dons won the double and then left for blackburn.

leven has a great engine, scores goals regularly, and is a great leader on the pitch.

but, he is very similar to crofts - who does the job out of those 2?

rather have chadwick, their player of the season by a country mile.

He's a left sided midfielder who takes alot of their setpieces, and who chips in with a fair amount of goals aswell. He's been referred to as the Gareth Barry of League 1. I'd snap him up, if he were available!

Based on your assessment of him it would seem that Poyet will chose between him and Andy Monkhouse.

I should think we're ok for centre midfielders at moment.
That's the trouble our midfield is just ok.We need a bit of quality in the center which we don't have.
I'm still in the 50/50 camp about Hendry. Can you really expect to to still be hungry after playing in the prem all those years?

Did he turn us down?

I thought Chestersfield rejected the bid, and then a move in the summer obviously didn't happen because of The Mistake.

Sorry, my comment was ambigious. I meant he was a left sided central midfielder, not a left winger. It was my mistake, I was very vague.

I don't neccessarily think we have our pick of players though, we can't just go for someone and expect to be able to sign them.

We do lack players who kick with their left foot naturally and it often shows in tight situations. Perhaps that is an area that Gus should look at if looking at midfielders or central defenders.

Had him in my "dream squad" for 2010/11 on another thread - maybe SSN are taking a leaf from the Argus' book and poaching their news from NSC

Our midfield is lacking a real bit of quality required to be a top 6 side.

Hendrie hasn't really convinced yet but could be an addition for the squad.

Our midfiled is OK at the moment....which would be ok if mid table is our aim

He was out of contract so could have signed for anybody and he chose MK Dons, so based on that he turned us /Wilkins down .

Not when we tried to sign him. We made a £100k bid in January 08 which they turned down, even though he was out of contract in the summer. When he ran out of contract he moved to MK Dons on a free, but that was in the summer.

He's very much a passing/crossing specialist. At Chesterfield he was very lazy, and a bit of a big time Charlie, on account of him being an ex Rangers player. He's upped his game since moving to MK Dons though.

.

Had he wanted to join us he could have done in the summer but chose not to irrespective of us offering £100k for him in January. It is possible that his agent could have negotiated for some of that £100k, that we saved, to have gone to him as a signing on fee or perhaps MK Dons offered more.
