Do they wet the pitch? Why?

And can't be terribly hygenic is it? Swampy germ-breeding ground Shirley?

Can confirm it knocks sand based AstroTurf into touch. Used to play on one in Loughborough.

some sort of machine cleans it periodically,i'd say sand based surfaces are less hygienic

i had noticed this, through it was chalk or dusting off their bats
