I am housesitting for the folks. They have SKY. I tried to watch the Man City vs Arsenal game and the Man Utd vs Stoke game, but bored of them very quickly. Overkill of football on TV and general apathy towards our top flight. I'm not sure why I even tried to watch them. My book was much more enjoyable.

I understand the apathy to the top flight in general, the overall picture is quite dull. However, I still really enjoy individual games. Stoke Man utd wasn't great but the man city Arsenal one was worth staying up till 2a.m for, IMHO. I find that if you watch the games as a one off spectacle and ignore all the hyperbole of the commentators and presenters then the games can be well worth watching. This weekend I watched Spurs v Everton, Stoke v Man Utd and Man City v Arsenal. The only one that wasn't that great was the stoke one, but then generally stoke aren't a team designed with the neutral in mind...

As was made apparent on the Rooney threads, I've had MU leanings in the past, but having settled in Hove, with 2 young children, I want them to support their local team and so have been to the Withdean regularly for the past 2 seasons. I have been told I have been extremely fortunate only to have witnessed Brighton under Gus, and so my only experience is this silky fast flowing passing football, and I've been really enjoying it as have my kids. The football has been a real treat, and I just can't wait to take them to the Amex, especially their first evening KO under lights - that will be something.

Too much possession football in The Premiership, real fans like to see the ball hoofed up the pitch as soon as possible.

Pretty sure this thread only pops up when we're doing well.

TBH I'm enjoying the Premiership at the moment.

Me too. I love watching the Albion, and also quite like settling down to MOTD.

Loving Man Utd throwing points away regularly, Liverpool imploding, West Brom and Blackpool doing well, etc.

I'm indifferent to the prem personally.
There are plenty of teams in there i can't stand & go out of my way to avoid watching them. But i also love watching Arsenal when they're at full flow & the likes of West Brom, Blackpool & Fulham sticking it to the big boys

Not rocket science is it. Albion are playing good football, are top of the league, have the best looking stadium on the country about to open and local glory hunters who are no longer embarrassed to admit to being a Brighton fan jump on the bandwagon. Perfect, the more the merrier. Keep up our current form and we could sell out Falmer on season tickets imo.

The Albion has always attracted massive interest when flying high. The most fickle fanbase in the country? Quite possibly, there are so many other things to do when the football is shit, unlike so many other places who seem to keep a similar fanbase through thick and thin.

Who needs the Premiership when quality football is on your doorstep?

I used to love Arsenal, but for some reason i went to a Brighton game once and we lost but the atmosphere was brilliant, the fans were amazing and i had a great time and i got bored of Arsenal not winning anything and soon enough i was converted and now i'm Brighton thats it, i've also converted a friend of mine who was Chelsea through and through but now he's not bothered about them and he is a season ticket holder along with me and 3 others. Now hoping to convert my friends dad who is also Chelsea but he's getting there

Good job you never called yourself Arsenal4life then!

You can't deny that a game such as the Man Shitty Arse one yesterday is sheer theatre when you consider the quality of the players on show. I love those kind of Sunday afternoon games. However, the side of the Prem I hate is the mid table to low table teams like Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton etc who's only object is to stay in the money league.

I want my team to get promoted this year as Im sure do you lot. However I would be quiet content to be a team challenging well in the Championship playing entertaining football for £23 a game. In the prem it can be boring and at £35 a game a rip off.

The likes of Rooney have ruined the game. Rooney is a cu*t. FACT.

When i was at school i started supporting Everton about 84/85 - but once my Dad took me along to the goldstone end of 87 i was hooked on the Albion and as much as i kept an eye on Everton i soon lost interest. Just get the youn uns to Falmer and teh support will grow. You can't beat that live match atmosphere.

To think that the game has been ruined by players trying to get more money for playing is to miss the bigger picture. Do we really expect players not to ask for more money? Has anyone sat in a work review and said 'look, I'm happy with what I'm on, there is really no need for a pay rise, especially if we see our bosses raking it in'? Of course not. Rooney is a cu*t for the way he has acted, but it is not his like that has ruined the game. It is the likes of Scudamore and the Premier League and their inclusive greed without ever looking at the game as a whole. It really is down to a larger governance problem rather than players. To be honest, if the Glazer's didn't give Rooney his £180k per week or whatever, that money wasn't going back into supporter pockets through ticket reductions, it was going to their bank accounts through dividends! Why should the owners get the money when the players do all the work?

Football has lost control of itself. The Premier League refuse to help England, and the rest of football down to grass roots, and football clubs are seen as money making machines, the new global roulette wheels of the financial world. Rooney has been greedy, but no more so than Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Rio etc. before him. The cancer is at the heart of the game and is slowly eating away at it.

Dont know why Man U, Arsenal, Man City , Chelsea, Rangers and Celtic dont just piss off and have their own mini league and have a months break between each game as they need to rest:lolol:
Rooney on £250,000 a week
East Boro players on £250.
Rooney gave someone £250 to get him a pack of fags

Unfortunately, that won't happen. Too many vested interests. It may, hopefully, wither on the vine.

I got bored of the top division a long time ago. It's at least 2 seasons since I watched a Prem game on the telly, and I think my last game attended at that level was in the 04/05 season.

I was born a 2 minute walk from stamford bridge and grew up supporting chelsea, since starting work at withdean in 2002 i admit to being an Albion fan and only occasionally will i look at Chelsea's result, football and life in the lower leagues is much more relaxing and entertaining.its all about less money grabbers and more grass roots football in my opinion.
