Is it now the beginning of the end as the Government appear to be thinking of abolishing the Civil Service Pension.

Will my 23 years in the Railway Pension scheme with a guaranteed 2/3 final salary self implode (and make me  )

Thankfully the system here for state final salary pensions is ringfenced into the constitution.... so if I go into the metaphorical (rather than the physical) "family business" of being a copper, they can't take the pension off me

And its 2/3rds here as well...

Although the physical family business of software is far more attractive cash wise in the short term :lolol:

Ex Civil Servant myself. Presumably you froze your Railway pension so it can't be touched. It will be new entrants to the scheme that will be stuffed!

No I'm still in it on continuos service - in a strange quirk by the Railways Privitisation act of Parliament.

I suppose I carry on till some twat says enough and it gets frozen then pay into whatever is on offer :(

Yep carry on for as long as you can, then freeze.

Don't forget that the pension also attracts a cost of living rise each year.

Soon, the only people to have decent pensions will be company directors - even those who perform badly!

Of course they are, how else could they fund their own?
