Any on here that run private pensions? Need assistance in starting one

There are a number of websites where people run their own pensions. I used an IFA named on here to consolidate some separate pensions so that I can drawdown in a year or 2.

You do not say how old you are, and how much financial understand you have which may impact on how you wish to proceed. My advice would be to read, read, read and read again. I’ve just started reading: "DIY Pensions: A Simple Guide to Pensions, SIPPs & Retirement Planning"

Understand your ‘number’ how much you need/want to be able to live on and how long you expect to be around after you retire.

If selecting an IFA, then talk to 3 to get a feel of what they can offer or advise, importantly determine if you can work with them (I discounted one immediately when I was looking). Look at www.vouchedfor.co.uk or www.unbiased.co.uk for ideas. Most will offer a free consultation with them free of charge.

If meeting an IFA ask them about their initial charges for setting up any plans and their ongoing annual charges for managing your pension, maybe even ask them how they will evidence what they are doing for their money (it’s your money after all). Then do some sums.

And remember investments can go down despite the fact that you would really like them to go up.

I've had a good IFA for the last 25 years [in HH] but he's not a pensions specialist.
I've just completed a full review with a specialist pensions advisor - very happy with.

Moved SIPP from Hargreaves-Lansdown [hadn't appreciated just how expensive they were] into a new Parmenion SIPP and also moved about £50k of various private pensions and AVCs into the Parmenion SIPP as they needed to be moved somewhere in prep for drawdown in the next ~5 years.

I personally believe the advice was good value for money but it depends how complex you pensions affairs are.
