Pearson on loan to Lewes
Cook on loan at Havant

Gives these two valuable experience I suppose.

Also, Jack Compton has signed on with Havant until the end of the season.

Has Pearson gone as cover for or instead of Cullip or to replace Hinshlewood who was there. Dont think that him or Compton, who has been given a free, are or where near to the first team here yet and Cook only came on against Man City so those 2 going out on loans is probably a good move for us and them to get some playing experience which they dont get much of with the reserves.

It would seem the club are going through the motions re the youth set up.
As long as they have the max amount of kids across all age groups they pick up £ 250,000 plus...from the F.A. this is kudos for the club in the local community.
When Wilkins was in charge they took what was called the "Dream Team" ..Gatting,Cox,Elphick,Lynch,Fraser etc (Total of 10) and signed them on ,where usually only 5 ish get the nod...the length of the apprentice contract was also cut from 3 years to 2 year by the F.A.
This caused problems with the next age group which started the rumour they had taken on "cannon fodder" who would be released after the 2 years..in fact only Gargan was kept on ( they didn't want to upset a sponsor !!).
From what I have seen of this current age group I think the majority might end up staying out on loan !.
The current management are looking to buy/loan in experienced players and do not have an interest in the youth setup. In my opinon Dick Knight has lost interest when he realised his nephew wasn't good enough and was released last year....now at Lewes.
Every club should invest in youth but the club is obviously short of funds that is why Hinschelwood/Bragg and assorted school teachers are still around ,instead of getting in ex pro's etc...Also some current coachs with local club connections (Bognor/Burgess Hill etc) have the ability to tap up the club and offer work experience..Charlie Oatway is currently at Havant.

I don't agree with that. You are always going to have some better years than others. The year that 10 or 12 got kept on was exceptional and it was two year's worth of youngsters as both the last of the three year scholars and first of the two year ones became pro at the same time. There is no way the club is going to lose interest in the youth setup as that is it's future.

This is getting out of hand. We're getting rid of youngsters, but we still have strengthened the bloody squad.

They are going on loan to get regular first team experience, which they are probably not ready for with our first XI. Hardly 'getting rid' is it?

Yes it is mate. We've got Leeds coming up on Saturday, and we still haven't brought anyone in. Other teams around us have picked up players here and there. and We've got f*** all, this is worrying....

So you think playing Cook and Pearson would be the answer then?
