PC help required - VERY annoying

Some f***ing search thing has installed itself as my homepage. I've tried deleting all cookies and history of pages visited but nothing is working. Every time I log on it goes to that. Also when I'm browsing the internet now and again it randomly goes to some porn page or another search site. It's really PISSING me off.

I went to 'Add/Remove Programs' and there's a 'Search Assistant Uninstall' program but it won't let me uninstall.

If anyone's got any ideas please say because it's DOING MY HEAD IN.

Cheers. :)

From THE INTERNET via GOOGLE...

what I did was ran regedit (for those of you who don't know, it's: start->run->"regedit.exe") and then, starting at My Computer at the top, went to edit->find, typed in "Searchassistant" and then deleted all values and keys that contained that name. Finally, I ran AdAware to remove the last few bits. Crude, but I think it's worked.

As afters says it does sound like Spyware. Down load Adawhere or Spybot from 'www.download.com'.

Stop using IE - its insecure, out of date and slow. Firefox is the here and now of browsers. IE is dying, its already in intensive care.

Funny you should mention Firefox, I've just installed it. Since I put on XP SP2 I can only run one IE browser at a time. I reported it to Billy the Gates and they just told me to take off the IE pop up stopper which I already have done. I told and it's a quiet as a Palace home crowd.

I like Firefox thus far, seems quicker than IE too.
