My fan won't stop even when I have shut my PC down. Does anyone know why this is and how I can stop it?

Cheers.

What happens when you remove the battery and reinstall it ? (Yes, really, switch it off and on).

As in unplug the power connector and replug it back in?

Make sure there's now power at all, no battery or mains and then put the battery back in and see if the fans starts up. Then shut it down and see if the fan stops again. Also, if that doesn't work something I was tipped off about, reset the motherboard by removing the CMOS battery for about a minute see if that clears it.

I thought a lot of electrical equipment like PC's had built in fans desingned to call them down, does it not shut itself down once the PC has registered a low enough temperature. I used to have a e-machine desktop PC that did this.

I left it for 2 hours and the fan was still on.

This is probably a massive dumbass question but what battery? Does the fan have its own battery to keep it going once the computer is turned off?

I assumed it's a laptop. If it's a desktop and the fan goes round with no power in it then you have a hamster nesting in your PC, complete with it's wheel. Failing that you must have been eating too much curry as your farts will be blowing the fan round.

Take the shell off your PC.

You'll quickly see the motherboard, cant really miss it.

On it is a small battery. Like a little silver circle right in the middle of the board. Pop it out and wait a few minutes before putting it back in place.

:)
