I must have pushed a button or something because if I open up a thread on NSC it comes up ok but when going to the next page it opens another complete page and doesnt cancel out the previous page and also when going to Big Board it just opens up another page so I finish up with about 10 little markers on the bottom of the screen. How do I overcome this or what stupid thing have I done. I dont know whether its related but if I try to click on an e mail to open it the whole page is highlighted as if I was going to copy and paste the page.

Any help would be appreciated by a poor old PC thicky.

I hate it when people post "have you switched it off and on" in these threads, but it's appropriate here. Has it been rebooted since it started doing this?

Sounds like the tabbed browser settings have changed. If you're using Internet Explorer - go to Tools > Internet Options then there should be a section for Tabs with a Setting button next to that. Go into that and choose the option to open links in current window.

Apologies if that is not what you're after!

Tools-Internet Options-Connections-Tabs -Settings- Open links from other programmes in: and then select "current tab or window"

actually, looking at the thread title I bet you meant to put a full stop, but if the SHIFT key is stuck down you'd have put > instead.

That's it. Holding shift down opens a new window.

Press the shift keys, check if caps lock is on. If it is and your letters are still small, there's your culprit.

Many thanks for all the advice I will try them in order. It is irritating but if my grandchildren even my 10 year old was here rather than at school he would probably know the answer and sort it..

No offense taken just explaining that my youngest grandadughter when shuffling around the chairs as she is not quite walking, often grabs at the keyboard and with her usually sticky hands, it would explain why the shift key was pushed down and stuck.
