Don't get this thing with Paul Weller.

Other than the odd one or two, he has to be the most boring singer/songwriter this country has ever produced and continuously lives off his success with the Jam and the Stanley Road LP.

As for him being called the "mod father" why? Is it because he dresses in a Parker jacket and has a haircut that was "cool" around 30 years ago?

Paul Weller - overrated.

Had a bit of a Style Council session last night. Anyone who thinks his music is samey really should check out some of the b-sides and albums tracks he released with TSC.

Here's a few suggestions:
It just came to pieces in my hands.
The whole point of no return.
Paris match.
Headstart for happiness
Spin Driftin'
Changing of the guard

How come you missed this thread last weekend?

Brighton Mod

Its All Too Beautiful
Private hell

THIS... is my favourite, an album track fromn the Setting Sons album.

'the man that you once loved, is bald and fat and seldom in
working late as usual
and in the afternoon the weekly food is put in bags
as you float off down the high street

Written by a teenager on what he saw, how right he was. except i'm not fat.

The 'mod father' wrote such great songs in his teenage and formative years that I feel
he will never eclipse them. Go to his concerts and everyone wants only the old songs
and when they come the venue erupts.

Weller. the British Springstein an inspiration for a generation,

We are the mods, in a song sort of way!

Weller music is samey, I don't think so, what about the massive difference between the following,

To Be Someone
So Sad About Us
Ghosts
Just Who is the Nine O'clock Hero
Absolute Beginners
Tales From the River Bank
Little Boy Soldiers

Those who think his music is samey don't know his music

I havn't seen Weller wear a Parkha for 30 years or more and his haircut is nothing like it was during the Jam days. Your ignorance in your last sentence invalidates your previous comments, you know very little and your opinion has little weight, sorry mate your way out on this one.
