ADELAIDE United's ultimate signing Paul Reid finally joined his team-mates on the training track at Thebarton Oval this morning.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder is United's 23rd squad member after signing a two-year deal.

Sydney-born Reid, 29, was a hit midfielder with Wollongong Wolves in the defunct NSL before signing for Bradford City in 2002.

Last month Reid was training with English league one side Hereford United in an unsuccessful bid to win a contract after he was released from Brighton in May.

But after he was expected to join Perth Glory, Reid instead signed with Adelaide.

So did he actually want to go back to Australia or was it because he couldn't get fixed up here, as he obviously tried if he had an unsuccesful trial at Hereford.

I was sorry to see him released but since his injury he didn't figure much after he'd recovered, was that because he wasn't good enough or because DW froze him out??
