Christ what negavitity. There's absolutely no harm in seeing what Brooker can do. On his day he was a class act. If he could get back to fitness and form, I say sign him up on a month to month and see how it goes.

Call it negative but not one of Adams old team has done f*** all that I'm aware of this season except for Zamora and it's a massive backwards step even considering re signing players who have gone downhill..well imo it is anyway. We have two already who add nothing to actually improving the side, why should a non league ex player? We should be looking for fresh blood not trying to recruit old cronies of Adams

But of course the Virgo apologists will be on here, saying that he's the second highest scorer this season!

He wasn't actually used by Adams when he was last here was he, so doesn't fall into the ex Adams players I was thinking of?

Right here, right now
I heard that Mike Small is still playing, and at only 46 he could probably still do a job!

Johnny Byrne is going to be at the game anyway, so we might as well bring him in - he did well enough in the OGH game!

Interesting that he lost his love for the game well after Leicester stopped paying him £5,000 per week.

These nostalgic signings have to stop. Virgo makes some sense, Hart and Mayo make no sense at all and neither does this. Brooker was erratic first time around and he's made no impact anywhere else since he left us. Barry Lloyd must be able to come up with better than this.

OK, so I know Paul Brooker (at face value) would appear to be a ludicrous signing.
His fall from grace has been monumental.

But, do bear in mind that Micky "made" him in the first place, so if anyone knows how to get the best out him, then its Adams.

I agree, he's probably just training with us - but you never know!!

The point is that we add players who are better than the ones we already have. I think that an on form Brooker is a good player who can give us flair and create chances. We're not exactly over flowing with those sorts of players are we? And don't forget we're only inviting to train with us. There are some wider issues about our squad. The retention of Hart and Mayo was a mistake and I'm baffled as to why we haven't signed another goalscorer when it's been obvious since the summer that one is badly needed. But money is clearly still very tight and it may take Adams longer than he previously thought to assemble a squad capable of getting out of this division.
