My passport expires at the end of January, so I am sending it off for renewal tomorrow.

I have paid my deposit for a trip to Amsterdam in February, and will need to book the trip soon.

Will I be able to book as my passport is out of date currently for the trip in Feb or will it be allowed as my new passport will arrive by February?

You do not need to give passport details up front of a trip within the EU, or many non-EU countries. As long as you have a valid passport when you depart you'll be fine.

Cheers. So all that matters is that I have the passport for when I go away?

Correct however with some countries you need to have a valid passport for XX months however in Europe not a problem.

You can book a holiday however it is your responsibility to have a valid passport.

Some airlines will hassle you for passport details in advance but don't panic - just update your travel details when your new passport arrives

On a similar vein, this time last year I booked a trip during the last couple of months of my travel insurance policy, the company were happy to take the details of the poilicy I had at the time on the understanding that I would notify them of my new details as soon as known.
