Parking tickets

My car was on a single yellow this morning and I overslept a little meaning that I didn't leave home until 8:10.

I got to my car a couple of minutes later and there was a traffic warden gleefully writing a ticket for me.

"Morning!", I said as I jumped in and drove off.

It is my understanding that a ticket is not enforcable until it is actually put on your car. Anyone know if this is really the case?

It depends who is issuing the ticket.

If it is a council parking attendent the ticket must be either attached to the vehicle or handed to the driver for it to be valid, if it was a council attendant and you drove off then you got away with it. They can later send a notice to owner but you can write to the council and get those cancelled easily.

If it was a police officer or a traffic warden then the ticket can (and will) be sent to you as they enforce a slightly different legislation.

The ticket was NOT on the car. The photo is not proof enough.

You haven't actaully been issued with a ticket.

What Bozza failed to mention was that he drove INTO the ticket warden and then backed over him several times, thus destroying the Ticket Gadget...and the Warden in the process!

but people who are issued with the ticket screw them up and throw them at the traffic warden.

the photos are timed and dated.

I do drive, Popkins.

The tickets have to be on the car at the time of the photo SURELY as this is proof if the person was to take the ticket off and screw it up. I'm not saying I'm an expert but this I do know.

They have to actually serve it to you or place it on the windscreen. I had the same thing happen recently, thought I'd got away with it as the warden got back in his van only to get a letter asking why I hadn't paid within 14 days. If this happens just appeal and point out the warden did not hand you or serve it on your car and you'll be OK. :clap2:

Oh and they don't need to have a photo that's just used to back them up. It does help prove it was served but not essential.
