Long story short my old man has had a full knee replacement rather unexpectedly (wasn't meant to happen until March/April but he got a cancellation). My sister got him tickets for the Everton game for Christmas but he is now not very mobile.

I do have a spot at the university but that is still a bit of a stroll and obviously involves the steps of the railway bridge. So I emailed the club to ask if they could help with something a bit closer as I know they did similar for a friend of mine a few years back. The club got back to me and said they couldn't help but if I kept an eye on the parking site they sometimes become available 48 hours before kick off. Now I can't say I am often looking but I've never seen these. Do they actually exist? Has anyone bought one? Or do you think the agent I spoke to was just talking about uni/bridge spaces?

Can you drop him off at the bus pickup in the car park? And then find a place to park?

it’s in the C car park at the UNI

I thought the club operated a shuttle bus from the Uni. They did a while ago

He was talking about uni spaces.

They seem to have changed how they sell parking now. The Bridge tends to be the only spaces listed when the initial sale happens. Then, on the week of the game, a lot of uni spaces come up. This has sometimes led to there being spaces still available on the day of the match itself.

There is a minibus that runs from the uni car park to just outside the coach park. I think, technically, it's for 1901ers only, but we asked the driver one time it was pissing down and he had no issue taking us.

Many years ago I uses to park in the Uni and take my father-in-law who had a wheelchair. There was a minibus thingy doing shuttle runs between the lower car park and the stadium for both wheelchairs and folk ambulant issues. Have you asked if the club still do this?

There's a ramp at the railway bridge, so you'd be able to avoid the steps. It's behind the steps, and anyone can use it. I use to sometimes when the gout kicks in. It's quite a gentle slope

Never ever seen "on site" parking available. Thought it was for the directors/board and 1901/boxes only.

As others have said there's a shuttle bus for those less mobile that runs from the sports centre car park in the Uni. Drop him there and go park.

I think they still do. Actually think it was a double decker bus the last time I saw it. I've never got it before though. Where do you pick it up from? That bottom car park closest to the underpass?

They let us park in there the other week when he was struggling with his knee.

Yeah, that is a good idea. The time it takes him to hobble down to the entrance we go nip over to the uni and wander over ourselves.

With the vast amount of "disabled" supporters with an ever increasing "I'm with him" entourage, there can often be a large bottleneck at the bottom of the ramp and can be quite difficult for those using it for the uni car parks and there is quite a lot of shouting and barging when wheelchair users want to get through to get to the car parks

Ah, didn't know that. Only ever used the ramp before games to cut out the steps

When I had my partial knee replacement, I used Seagull Travel to get to the ground. They were very helpful and made sure the steward reserved a seat at the front of the coach for me. There is the lift next to the coach park if needed.
