Sounds like someone being murdered in the background. Why do some people have to scream instead of cheer?
[/QUOTE
I would advise you not to watch Strictly, the background " Squeal Tape " that raises in tempo every time someone spins/turns/lifts is frickking awful.

There seems to be a thread of "loser" running through most of UK sport, from football to cricket
to rugby to many other sports. Down to mental fortitude? We come up short on so many occasions on the
big stage. Every time. Time after time, afer every f*&***g time.

Is there a practical reason why the girl runners wear the equivalent of fairly skimpy knickers while the boy runners have the equivalent of Bermuda Shorts ?
The Lycra knickers wouldn’t give the same level of support to the meat n veg as the shorts.

And a bloke would look f***ing rediculous.

There's been some decent tactics and data analysis from team USA IMO.

That's three races now where they've let the big names knock each other out and picked up the scraps. Gold in the 400 and 800 and now picking up a silver in the 3000 SC from nowhere, as the rest of the fancied field took each other out.

Nah, we a very well rounded and compete near the top for most sports (that we try in).

Can’t win them all and we peak in some areas while having a dry spot in others.

In the case of football, nearly 60 years would say differently.

The fifth-fastest 400m of all time was only good enough for silver. That's rough.
That track is insanely quick though. Too quick probably, as it is making it hard to make valid comparisons with existing times or PBs.

Sure, but you mentioned all sport and it’s simply not the case
True. But when was the last time we won the Rugby world cup (although being in the final
a number times), the Ashes, etc etc. We are known as chokers on the world stage.

Football’s almost unique as literally every nation, even Wales, are decent at it. Other than Greece 2004, I’d argue the winners contained technically better and more complete footballers than us. Especially in midfield.

So. why are we technically inept? We pour more money into sport than most countries in the world and we're sh*t.

We've got 49 medals overall - streets ahead of those below us and more than Australia/same as France... just the way it goes in Olympics sometimes - we've smashed the golds over the last however many Olympics. Youre reading too much into it putting it down to mental fortitude etc!

Imho …. a high speed power game where velocity, height and strength really come in it, at all ages.

Whilst, it’s in their football dna, so many other nations cherish the ball.

Aside from football. Germany and Italy love sport, the investment in Germany vast, yet we’ve destroyed them both in the medal table.

I take yout point. But GB/UK etc has too often been seen as the gallant loser; accept bronze- it's a medal.
Maybe I'm expecting too much.

The Americans are cleaning up in the track and field.

the target for medals for team GB was around 55 and we are now 49, so we are on target. Hopefully the cyclists can chip in again with another haul.

i am surprised that we haven’t done better in sailing as in the past that has got us a bag full.
